If George W. Bush was such an idiot...

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush was such an idiot....

...how would you explain a BA from Yale & an MBA from Harvard?

My liberal friends complained about how GWB wasted money and his attack on personal freedom with the Patriot act. I pointed out that Obama spent more money in his first four months than Bush spent in his last four years and that many of his programs infringe more on personal liberties than the Patriot act. At that point they start with the “Bush was so dumb...” jokes.

But, but.....we all knew he was such an idiot. But BHO is so suave...isn’t that supposed to count for something?

Remeber the furor over Bush supposedly having some device in his jacket at the debates and the supposition that he was wired to receive responses?

But no qualms about O using a teleprompter and every word scripted. No that is just media savvy.

“...how would you explain a BA from Yale & an MBA from Harvard?”

I typically get “his daddy helped” or “they were paid off.”.

You can’t reason with these people. Obama is far from an idiot despite his dependence on a teleprompter. It’s simply more evidence that he suffers from narcissism as he’s SO concerned about his style and could care less about substance. You cannot point out to a liberal that Bush and Obama are basically in parity when it comes to speaking off the cuff. The hypno-speeches by The One have pretty much ridden all sense of reason from your typical liberal’s brain.

I assure you that if Bush were to have used a teleprompter, we’d probably have had 1/2 to 1/4 the Bushisms we do today :-)! Quite frankly, I love “strategery”, “misunderestimated”, etc. as it drives the left nuts. If Bush would have friggin’ limited spending and acted like a fiscal conservative, he’d have gone down in history as one of the best despite his awkward abuse of the English language :-)!. Still, the Bush Presidency is what it is. At least we saw Bush’s transcripts.

As do I. To which I respond...well, who's didn't? My father helped me. It's commonplace.But, you're absolutely right..you just can't reason with these people.

If George W. Bush had thrown a ball like a little girl while throwing out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium October, 2001 coming up short of the plate - and making sure cameras would be set up to miss the miss on live TV..... What would the media have said?

How a real man pitches. Watching this still brings tears to my eyes.

George Bush never said “strategery.” That was from a skit on SNL.

An even better response would be: We don’t know how Obama got to college or who paid for it. We have not seen grades or anything, let alone any proof that he attended - kinda funny and not one classmate from either of the two universities has come forward to claim that they knew him.

That was from a skit on SNL.

So was "I can see Russia from my porch", but it has become fact in the mind of liberals.

Actually, there is about an hour long video interview with a classmate of BHO’s from (I think) Occidental... isn't that the school he attended in LA?

It was done by one of the public broadcasting channel's in California, and takes place on a landing between steps with one of the college's signature buildings as the backdrop. I think the particular segment was from a once a week show where a popular local public broadcaster interviews someone of interest with a California connection. This interview was done because the “student” being interviewed had been BHO’s roommate. I think the show is named for the personality that conducts the interviews. I saved it to my hard drive so that I could enlarge the view, but later deleted it, as it is almost an hour long, and once was enough. A little browsing might locate it...

"As do I. To which I respond...well, who's didn't? My father helped me. It's commonplace."

That may not be the best tack to take with a lot of liberals, many of whose fathers may have played a minimal or non-existant role in their upbringing. I'm not saying you're not right, but if you're trying to persuade them of that, this will only engender resentment.

I will admit that you're a better man than I for even trying to dialogue with these people. I gave up on that years ago.

"Bush...dumb"

I have three very lib sisters who think Obama is sent from God and is the smartest prez ever. Their usual method of "political discussion" is simply to talk about how dumb Bush was. So recently I regaled two of them with some of Obama's malaprops. They claimed they never heard of them. I was only too willing to inform of a few The Great Spreader's mouth fumbles.

I am not trying to persuade, just stating a point of fact. Of course, we all know they deal only in feelings, but I lay it out there nonetheless.
