After lunch the local police were called and escorted John Ziegler out of the parking lot. But first there was a major confrontation in the banquet tent at the Radisson Hotel.

(Ziegler confronted Keene on his comments about Sarah Palin. Video of Ziegler talking about his encounter at link.)

OMG - Is Kreep okay?

The Western Conservative Political Action Conference has always been a smaller sibling to the annual Washington, D.C., CPAC. It’s gained some strength this year with the addition of speakers like Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-Minn.) and California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman. But it’s also attracted some notable “birthers.” Tonight’s VIP reception for Pawlenty, which Whitman is also scheduled to attend, will feature Floyd Brown, the longtime GOP activist who is fundraising for both an “impeach Obama” campaign and a campaign to get the media to cover the birth certificate “issue.” On Saturday afternoon, Gary Kreep, one of the first conservative lawyers to sue for proof of Barack Obama’s citizenship, is moderating a panel on “The Rule of Nebulous Law: Thoughts on the Modern Judiciary.”

There was a big stink about Keene donating to Specter. More here -- Palin-bashing CPAC/ACU Chair donated $2,000 to Arlen Specter, endorsed Romney

Its not a ‘conservative’ group it is a ‘conservation’ group. Their goal is the promotion and protection of the North American ‘RINO”.

No, it was in 2004.

Keene is a David Frum conservative.

How strange is that? Can things get any more weird. However, it explains how suddenly conservatives no longer have any influence in DC. They have been bought off. HOw do we get rid of this guy?

John Ziegler is an assclown and an attention whore. He is not someone that conservatives should be cheering or idolizing.

So's Charles Johnson of LGF, but that doesn't seem to curb your enthusiasm.

So, there must be some other dynamic at work, here.

Care to elaborate, or will you just stick to ad hominems with no source to back up your opinion?

I've had it with Charles Johnson and LGF too. So has FR. They will no longer accept articles from LGF. Good for them.

As for Ziegler, this isn't the first time he's been asked to leave an event.

"I guess CPAC has turned on conservatives too."

And guess what: There's no Santa either!

CPAC has never been conservative. It has always been a big Country Club Showboat.

You were the primary source of articles from LGF posted to FR, so you would know. I've never known you to disagree with Charles Johnson in any substantive way, either.

As for Ziegler being asked to leave an event, well, it takes all kinds.

Is it the fact of his ejection itself, that has you atwitter, or is it what he believes?

For quite a while, I found his take on issues to be compelling. However, I tired of his obsessiveness. And as he kept drifting leftward, I'd finally had it.

It's the ejection and his overall behavior. I agree with him on many things.

You use the term coined by Johnson, "birthers," with obvious relish, and in the same, negative context with which he uses the term, so that's not where your break with LGF occurred.

What is it, that you now disagree with Charles Johnson about? How has he moved away from your point of view in the, what, past two months, since you're no longer able to post links here on FR?

I think the birther movement is nutty.

LGF is now pretty much a leftwing blog. Charles sees racism and fascism everywhere. He promotes Anthropogenic Global Warming. He obsesses over creationists. He bans people who even mildly disagree with him or one of his sycophants.

He obsesses over creationists.

How do you view Biblical Creationists, Eveningstar? Johnson's disdain for Creationists may have become more strident recently, but it's certainly not a new thing.

He bans people who even mildly disagree with him or one of his sycophants.

Have you been banned from LGF, Eveningstar?

I do not agree with them, but they are good people. I do not agree with a literal interpretation of the Bible. I do believe in God.

Have you been banned from LGF, Eveningstar?

Oh, yes. But that was way back in February. I took exception to him citing the SPLC. He banned me for smarting off to one of his disciples about it. I laughed the incident off. I shouldn't have. I now regret ever posting any of his articles.

Many of us knew Charles Johnson was not in any way, shape or form conservative well before that point, Eveningstar. Creationists. Constitutional strict constructionists. Global warming “deniers.” I’m all three, myself.

Accepting the politically motivated framing of the issue, of all who insist upon semantic originalism of Constitutional terms of art as belonging to their own construct, the derogatory “birthers,” is falling prey to manipulation. I’ll contend that the wackiest elements associated with most every effort to date, attempting to determine eligibility of Barack Obama for office are orchestrated.

There certainly was a big influx of new sign-ups to FR, who rode in on the erstwhile “fake” birth certificate. They’re still the most stridently vocal proponents of unsound thinking on this site today, running full tilt down every blind alley and screaming “troll” at anyone who dares to point out errors from a Constitutional basis.

The “birthers” such as they exist, are their own creation; look for the recent thread, of an anonymous poster claiming to have private papers of certain Founders. Made up from the get-go. They laid it on too thick with the claim of ancient, hereditary lawyer-kings in Ireland, though. So, that one didn’t fly. They’re sock puppets, for the most part. The remainder are sincere people who have been sucked in and duped by design.

That’s my informed opinion, having done battle with them all the way back to June of last year. A stupid JPEG does not prove anything. It can’t prove anything. It was a very effective distraction from the very real Constitutional issues at hand. There are substantial reasons for doubt, as to whether Obama is in fact eligible to the office he now holds, though. All the weird three-ring circus acts and so-called attorneys with peculiar neuroses and a very strong desire to self promote do not change that fact.
