Anyways, the Colorado Springs "government" wants to tripple our property taxes; using extortion and threats of Police and Fire cuts - while City Owned rental properties are tax exempt.
Tell the Mayor and City Council, if they want our Firemen and Policemen, to COME AND TAKE THEM, if they can!
NO on 2c !!
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ!
Time to go Galt on the CS gov’t.
>>Time to go Galt on the CS govt.
“It is incumbent upon the honorable craftsman
to be aware of whether or not his services are being used
as a means to accomplish evil ends -
and to ACT accordingly.”
And I'll bet the schools are top notch!/sarc

Guess I better quit working and get “disabled”.
Gubment cheese is good.
The Obozo/joker sticker shows up around town once in awhile.
yep, the more they give to government... the more they have to take from others to pay for what they want and to replace the taxes from what they took.
Crazy people are in charge.
>>It is a F*ing obscenity for this once fine
>>American community to degenerate into liberal filth.
Yep. Down is up and up is down.
Our carpet-bagging mayor, like several on the city council, were all former “Military” officers.
Seems to me, given their craftsmanship, they’d be equally at home suckling from the tit of the Soviet Union.
No need for a Red-Dawn invasion. It’s an inside job...
...and the Fabians cover of fleece is thinning.
Almost as nice as the White House and the Naval Observatory VP Cheney House. ;-)
>>The Obozo/joker sticker shows up around town once in awhile.
Not enough.
Not a single “Yes on 2c” sign on that city housing authority property.
No signs at all, in fact; or flags.
Such expression is not allowed by the resident subjects/comrade citizens, I suppose.
Besides, the 1st amendment is “just a distraction”/s
>>Naval Observatory VP Cheney House.
Comrade Biden’s House, now.
Colorado Ping
>>Crazy people are in charge.
...and they’ve built their pyramid upside down.
When 51% of the population figures out they can vote themselves “Free Pie”...
SPLAT.
You seem to be suggesting that the city should pay taxes on its own property.... whose money would they use to pay those taxes? Yours and mine. Rather silly, when you think about it.
SO, Bill. Are you going to tell the fellow that that picture is of Acacia Park, and that the names were not actually written by the students of nearby Palmer HS? Or are you just going to keep lying about it?
>>When you have a city that’s grown as fast as ours has
Building empty properties to be rented by a government slum-lord does not constitute “Growing”.
>>You seem to be suggesting that the city
>>should pay taxes on its own property....
No, what I’m suggesting, comrade r9etb, is the city shouldn’t be in the rental property bidness... or any of the other “enterprise” monopolies it has its tentacles around.
Such mingling of mercantilism and government is beyond the specified scope of purpose for American government.
Perhaps you’re enjoying the Sovietization of Colorado Springs, comrade r9etb?
That it is Acacia Park should be self-evident to any Colorado Springs resident... and especially to any C.S. Tea Partier.
As to the student’s present or former enrollment in Palmer HS, I can’t say one way or the other.
Do you have special knowledge in this regard; chalk on your fingers, perhaps? Or are you just wine-ing again?
NO on 2C (6 mils increase in property tax) and FOR issue 300 (So they can’t make taxes “fees” when we vote them out and support for TABOR- Tax Payers Bill of Rights)
>>Mr. Bruces little experiment has left the city in a
>>serious fiscal crisis
No Ralph, {Ill call you Ralph}, the roots of the citys serious financial crisis are thus:
The rotten foundation beneath prop 2c can be seen right here in the words of Assistant City Manager Mike Anderson regarding the USOC debacle:
In other words, we cant issue the COPs and we are all screwed unless the 16 million dollar issue is resolved!
http://csbj.com/2009/05/01/only-truth-in-usoc-building-debacle-%e2%80%98we-are-all-screwed%e2%80%99/
Rut Roh!, fire up the smoke and mirrors because...
City of Colorado Springs cant find data used to justify USOC deal
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4190/is_20090909/ai_n35635624/?tag=untagged
So, it only takes common sense to observe the self-evident truth that 2c is nothing but an a$$-covering facade by the citys corrupt managerial syndicate.
2c is City Council and Lionel Riveras way of saying Give us wall-paper to cover A$$ or we burn down city...
But then, as we've observed in the past, "Ralph", observation and common sense aren't your forte.... did you figure out which way the Arkansas River flows yet?
That is exactly why the levy is 6 mils.
We will NOT degenerate to “liberal filth” having never voted for a Dem for Pres since I’ve been alive in El Paso County...not that it has to do with our fine military here!
Agreed....Why would we spend money to administrate paying ourselves?
"Gallagher is calling on everyday citizens to show up in droves at the citys annual budget hearing next week for a so-called tea party."
>>not that it has to do with our fine military here!
Observe Mayor Rivera(R)
Quack, Waddle - Liberal RINO filth HE doth appear to be.
How’s Comrade Captain Rivera’s association with UBS working out these days?
The city buys everything around here because it turns out to be profitable to do so. Biggest income earner in CS is Memorial Hospital without any doubt about it. Don’t let park scenes and dogs pissing on things cloud your mind. We should support our right to approve taxation and to close the loopholes that they use to get their taxes in “fees” instead. I don’t think anyone wants to bring down the city, so when they manage thier way out of the hole that they put themselves into, we’ll give them the money....with all due respect.
Lionel is probably on his way out. Too scandalous with the LandCo problems.
>>well give them the money....with all due respect.
Yep.
If they ask for money specifically for Police, fine.
If they ask for money specifically for Firemen, fine.
If they ask for money specifically for Parks... maybe.
But when they ask for money for their “General Fund”; and do so via the extortive threat of “We’ll cut safety and parks” - NO SALE!
Especially when much of the city’s present predicament can be traced to its addiction to fees associated with uncontrolled growth; the height of which was during the Sub-Prime expansion.
CHAAAAAAARGE IT! HOUSING NEEEEEVER GOES DOWWWWWN!
Sound familiar?
Now they want those of us who worked hard, saved, and were smart enough not to be in debt... to fork over our milk and apples?
Nope, not gonna do it. Wouldn’t be prudent at this juncture.
NO MORE PLASTIC FOR YOU, city council! ;’p
Well put....the credit card is over the limit I’m afraid. Don’t bail’em out. They will get out of it some day. Parks get lots of GoColorado funding. They shut the water off to get “high visibility” as we say in gubmint work.

If he went from the “Downtowner’s Club” to the “Las Vegas Club”, it would be a long ride indeed.
For your review: http://www.cityreforms.com/
>>They shut the water off [in the parks]
Fine with me. I have a Camelback and plan ahead. Plus the lack of facilities tends to discourage camping in the parks by homeless folks.
There has been some pretty “shifty stuff” going around here. So I hold the feet to the fire. I was here when Academy Blvd. was a dirt road. What a great city...especially not worth trashing!
“Especially when much of the citys present predicament can be traced to its addiction to fees associated with uncontrolled growth; the height of which was during the Sub-Prime expansion.”
Uncontrolled growth, a product of the 70s when we put a moratoreum on natural gas to stop building permits because the city couldn’t provide services due to the growth. Especially Police, Fire, and utilities.
Ahh, very nice.
>>Developers spent over $100,000 to scare voters.
Multi-Family community developers, per chance?
One of those on the City Council, IIRC... ah yes...

Im sure thats just a coinkidink/s
BTW, the reputation of C.S. municipal corruption is apparently well known... at least it was among the small circle of LEO friends my father used to inhabit up in Denver.
The cities, counties and states have to pay for those lottery style tax funded government retirement pensions and those government benefits...
These local governments don't care if you're taxed into the gutter...They need your money for their lucrative retirement pensions.
Pay up!
>>What a great city...especially not worth trashing!
Indeed. Unfortunately the purple-hued attitude hovering like a fog in Mr. Hughes’ Federally Funded West-Side “Utopia” has ooozed over I25 and is probing Eastward - as we can see upon the sidewalk of Acacia Park.
As is the case in the state legislature, well-funded Rainbow miscreants in key positions can do great damage.
Nonetheless, my family likes it here; and I intend to fight for the Conservation of what was and is still good about Colorado Springs... if not Colorado in general.
>>They need your money for their lucrative
>>retirement pensions.
Well Colorado Springs has a lovely collection of 350+ “Housing Authority” Rental properties they can sell off... before I willingly allow them to poke their beak into my self-funded, and limited, retirement milk and apple wagon.
If they want more Pie, let them have a bake sale first from the ones they’ve got hidden in the cupboard.
Water...the issue here in CS. What about Frying Pnan / Arkansas project. Probably the most successful and expensive water project ever.
Agreed. No way let them tax you with fees...etc...
You do remember Dave’s bake sale?
>>You do remember Daves bake sale?
No. I grew up in Denver, spent 20+ years supporting my wife’s teaching in Lutheran Schools out in Californistan, and then escaped “home” 2 1/2 years ago to what I thought was still the conservative state I grew up in....
...only to find the folks who Californistaned California had out-flanked me and were busy Californistaning Colorado.
Where can I learn about Dave’s Bake Sale?
Wow. Ft Collins, CO. in circa ‘85 when Rush Limbaugh helped hold a bake sale for schools with a school teacher named Dave. “If you want to build a jet plane, then hold a bake sale, for that’s what we’re doing to educate your kids”.
They'll triple your property taxes and double your vehicle registration fees before dumping their cash cow assets. The only sale they intend on having will be to sell the legitimate citizens out.
>>Water...the issue here in CS
1st need.
Thar’s Gold in them thar hills... Liquid Gold.
Got Water Wars?
>>Probably the most successful and
>>expensive water project ever.
Not familiar with it; but I do recall, growing up, lots of talk about the Big Thompson Project.
Be a water lawyer in Colorado. Very lucrative.
