David Corn and Republican "Close" to Romney Say Palin Just Does Not Understand Politics...
Conservatives4Palin ^ | 14/10/09 | The Aged P

Posted on 10/14/2009 1:46:40 PM PDT by sussex

David Corn, one of America’s greatest writers, has finally decided that Governor Palin has had it far too easy a over the last few months. Formerly Washington editor of “The Nation” (the “flagship of the left”) and now with “Mother Jones Magazine" the courageous Corn, who once astonished the world by calling President George W Bush a liar, believes it is time to shame a sycophantic and cowed media into showing up the Governor for what she really is.

Perhaps those “close” to Romney don’t have a clue about how angry the average conservative American is. This country is headed for another civil uprising and the current batch of politicians and media will be shocked by the ferocity of it. There is a politcal tsunami building.

David Corn is just another ivy leaguer (Brown) upset at the temerity of a state school grad aspiring to national office. He joins Brooks, Frum, Mirengoff and a host of others determined to keep out the rif raff.

I can do without the Romney understanding of politics, myself.

A canned, slick image and presentation, that can be changed and is changed expediently, with no more compunction than a teenager trying on "cool" personae, is not what I'm looking for, at all.

As to the Romney “adviser” to whom he was speaking, it was probably Romney himself.

Some of the stuff Michele Bachman told Glenn Beck on his radio show this morning, if investigated and widely reported, could result in many of the scumbags in the House and Senate now, to be sent packing! I wonder if Ms. Bachman is for real, or whether she’s all wind, like so many others who have wound up disappointing me?

These people are making SO easy for me to support Sarah Palin to the max. Nothing worse than not having a good handle on who the guys are and who the bad guys are. In this case the bad guys are RINO’s, and bless their heart they keep standing up and identifying themselves! Sure takes the guess work out of my choice!

Thank you, guys. You've saved us true conservative a whole lot of work!

The usual disclaimer: Of course SaraCuda could disappoint us at some point, and turn out to be nothing more than another flash in the pan. I don't think so, but I am quite alert to the possibility, and to any sign of the sheen wearing off!

I love Sarah Palin to death. Her values are essentially mine. She is a fantastic spokesman for conservative issues, and she will get even better. I wish more Republicans had her moral and political convictions. I think what the conservative side misses desperately is someone who can articulate and be guided by sound moral and conservative principles, like Reagan did. BUT . . .

I am afraid she has already been “Dan Quayled” by the media and the left. Even unfounded as most of it was, it is almost impossible to overcome the public ridicule that she had to endure. As much as I like her, I don’t think she can ever be a successful presidential candidate. But we need her voice pounding the left with body blows. In some very important ways, I think she retains some credibility that can help beat the Left, some of it gained by being a woman who endured the rabid, unmerciless attack from the left. I have no problem with a woman being President. I just don’t think it is her highest and best use because I don’t think she can win with all the obstacles she will have to overcome. . . IMHO.

The article makes this conclusion about David Corn and his article:

What I find puzzling is that someone can write such a shoddy and poorly researched piece of so called journalism and get paid for it. It’s almost at the level of the puerile anti-Palin rantings of Geoffrey Dunn at the Huffington Post. But then the article is only the most recent in a long line of hit pieces usually penned by Washington hacks predicting the Governors political demise because she doesn’t conform to the conventions of political conduct as laid down by the Beltway pundits.

Here’s a tip for David Corn – why not break the mould and research – yes, that’s RESEARCH, as in using shoe leather – for a piece on why the lady remains a key political figure by defying the accepted conventions of political conduct. After all, David, that shouldn’t be too big a task for the man who got involved with Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame....

So, the article itself condemns Mr. Corn's article as a piece of puerile crap, chock full of lies but the un-sourced quote about an un-named, allegedly pro-Romney Republican from this very same article has to be the true? This is the standard of evidence here? No proof needed. Heck, no evidence needed. Romney is personally guilty. The Liberal author says so?

If Sarah Palin runs in the primaries, a lot of people will give her a second look, particularly if the rest of the field is the same old same old. If she gets the nomination and Obama is as unpopular as I think he will be, a lot of people who are unimpressed with Palin now will re-examine her. I think the reassessment of Palin will be very positive like it was for Reagan in 1980 who had been demonized as the "affable, old fool who will nuke the world." In many ways, Reagan's popularity in 1980 had to do with Carter's unpopularity and the "nothing could be worse than Carter even Reagan" voter. By 1984, Reagan was generally popular in his own right.

Conservatives are lining up behind for Palin for one major reason: her conservatism is sincere. Like Reagan, Palin really believes what she says and isn't making insincere statements to foster a false impression of conservatism, like most notedly, Romney.

Palin has made a career out of taking on the established power structure. I don't think Palin is the least bit afraid of David Corn, other MSM persons, or Romney's attack dogs.

Exactomundo! And each time the liberals/RINOs/Socialists attack Sarah, the more she gains in stature by their defining themselves. Sarah's "Common Sense Conservatism" will sound sooooo good to many voters after experiencing the hopey-changey thing.

The WWW did not exist when Dan Quayle was VP. The MSM has a total monopoly on everything people read, watched, or heard.

The analogy between Palin and Quayle is a non-starter. Palin's support is coming from across the political spectrum, and her message is Common Sense Conservatism. She doesn't have to reach across the aisle, or capitulate to liberal schemes. People are waking up and standing up for pro-American ideas.

The few vocal RINOs are terrified. They don't know what to do except shriek louder. The RNC is losing votes and donations, in spite of their "help us stop this scary Obama dude" message.

What they are really trying to stop is the Sarah movement. They don't care about the communists; Graham said as much this past weekend. They do know what the score is, and it is not in favor of the liberal Democrats or liberal RINOs.

No, you’re completely wrong.

When your general is wounded but still fighting, and still bringing down more enemy than anyone else, you don’t pull her out of the battle (for one thing she outranks you).

Especially when the wound is just a little scratch.

Palin is genuine. Romney is not. I’d take Palin anyday over Romney, McCain or the rest of the last group of candidates. Once the Republican party sees that gelling behind Palin is a winner, Obama and his ilk are gone in 2012.

The solution is for the party to keep pointing out how the liberals keep pointing out how she is not smart. They did likewise with Reagan and he took them to the cleaners. Side by side with Obama, there is no contest. Class tells!

Yes, dirtboy, Mr. Corn is the one who made the claim about Romney’s involvement. My point is that the author of the article was commenting on Mr. Corn’s statements and he concludes his article by saying that Mr. Corn is full of crap. And yet, despite the article’s condemnation of Mr. Corn’s lack of concern for the facts, many posters on this thread have embraced Mr. Corn’s unsourced claim that “a GOPer close to Mitt Romney” was involved. Not only that, but you have now stated that it was not just someone who is “pro-Romney” but a Romney staffer, something that neither the author nor Mr. Corn claimed. I echo the words of the article’s author: get your facts straight before you criticize.
