For the second week in a row Saturday Night Live has gone after President Obama. This time they lampoon him for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Here's the link to a video of it.

The quality of their humor could be a lot better. I almost think it’s on purpose — weak jokes about Obama convince people that making fun of him is pointless (there’s no funny there) so let’s all go back to laughing at Sarah Palin.

Not funny at all. The actor doesn’t even try to look like Zero. He looks straight into the camera.

Thanks for posting.
So glad I didn't wait up to see SNL. Wasn't worth losing sleep over.

What I really dislike about this actor is that he does nothing actually to mimic the Illegal Alien. He uses his own voice, not the Alien's, doesn't use even fake telepropters, and does none of the arogant head swinging with his chin up in the air to demonstrate his absolute, arrogangt superiority that the Illegal so loves to do. If he combined all of those things, the skit would be hilarious, not the dud it was.

That really wasn’t very funny. Glad that I did not stay up for that disappointment.

The skit wasn’t funny but they did point out that the only reason the prize was won was because he wasn’t Bush.

“weak jokes about Obama convince people that making fun of him is pointless”

...you nailed it. SNL would’nt dream of going up against the “one”.

The lamest cold open in the show’s history. Got too much flack from last week apparently.

OMG. That was so unfunny and lame. It was torturous.

I don't even care about the politics of it all, there wasn't a funny line in the whole boring skit.

I’m no real fan of SNL but I don’t know that they can be blamed for making their Obama skit intentionally unfunny . . . SNL has been habitually unfunny for as long as I can remember.

It was an awful sketch and quite boring. It went after George Bush not Obama.

Yeah—its clear that they’re getting credit for “going after him” while really dissing his opponents.

“because he wasn’t Bush.”

To which, the nutty liberal crowd went crazy with their whistles and applause. (I hope I see the day when they beg for Bush)

“SNL has been habitually unfunny for as long as I can remember.”

Agree. But in this case, the content was pretty scathing, funny or not. I doubt it made the obama folks happy.

I think your exactly right. They are down playing the huge opportunity to knock this guy with such lame attempts at humor. I would of at least thought the guy playing Obama would have practiced his mannerisms during the past week, but no, I actually think he got worse in depicting Obama! Could have been much funnier, but maybe that's what they were aiming for, unfunny. He's their God after all.

I recorded SNL last evening and watched it early a.m.

Wow, did they fall down, considering the potential amount of material.

Their skit was Obama announcing his winning the lottery and it wasn’t even funny.

So much potential, and they blew it, considering that their skit from last week became quick classic.

The skit itself wasn’t too bad. I think it would have been funnier if the actor impersonating Obama worked on his shtick. The appearance is passable, but the voice work seems very half-hearted.

As the post above mentions, the material AND the delivery faded from last week. And, the delivery wasn’t good then. They need to bury this line of comedy and they’re doing a good job.

That guy does a pitiful impression of Obama. He never speaks looking straight on at an audience. He always swings his head back and forth between teleprompters.

He does not have Obama’s air of superiority and arragance down at all.

FAIL!

Obama is one of them, so the SNL writers don't even notice the arrogance and the teleprompters. It seems perfectly normal to them...

For a long time they made no jokes about Obama and stuck with their old, tired stuff about Bush. They knew they had to move on to keep an audience but don’t want to really make people laugh at Obama real flaws. This is a pitiful compromise. It makes SNL look like amature hour.

I agree, it wasn’t very funny. In fact they took more jabs at Bush and one at Michael Steele (during the fake news segment) than they did at “Dear Leader”. Again, not funny.

“I would of at least thought the guy playing Obama would have practiced his mannerisms during the past week ...”

Fred Armisen has been doing Obama for quite a while. There were quite a few sketches during the campaign, and he has Obama’s speech pattern and mannerisms down pat. Why he has chosen not to use any of that now is probably nothing more than they DON’T want him to look too much like Obama. Tina Fey was so good with her impersonation that it affected the public’s perception of Sarah Palin. Fred won’t want to be too close to Obama and portray him as he really is - it would look too much like Obama admitting he is a dufus.
