United States: Soon to be a country without a currency?
Political Lore ^

Posted on 10/08/2009 4:51:24 PM PDT by DecoyJames

"What the Fed is likely to do is kill the dollar and eventually partner with the IMF, which as become the de facto global central banking institution. The IMF will fund global growth through Special Drawing Rights. The trick will be for the dollar to slowly die as the Special Drawing Rights gradually play a more and more central role in the growth of the world economy. A perfect correlation of the dollar fall and the Special Drawing Rights rise is not likely, so there will be a very difficult transition period when the United States is essentially a country without a currency."

No, we will still have a currency and thanks to Obama’s printing presses, we will have enough to paper our walls.

This is way beyond me. It is safe to say that since Obama has become POTUS the influence and power of the United States continues to slip. I may be the last generation that was born, lived, and died when the United States was the world's only super power. It's like being a Brit during the age of Queen Victory. If I had to pick a time to live as an American, I don't know that I could have picked a better time. The salad days of the American empire is nearly over. It's all downhill from here.

If interest rates were raised, it would lead to an even worse rescission than anything the country has suffered thus far, and if they continue to print the dollar, the dollar will eventually completely collapse.

Doing The Right Thing will fix things but cause immediate pain. Printing more money will cause far more pain for a far longer time but the pain doesn't get noticeable immediately. Which do you suppose these wise farsighted solons will do?

We should have never lowered them in the first place...

It just made this far worse.

How the hell do we get out now?

It’s comical.

In Canada we build our homes in Imperial (from our British heritage) but drive and weigh things in Metric.

Horsepucky.
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
(Germans?....Forget it, he's on a roll)

America isn't the commies in charge. It's us. The schmucks running the place have as much power as we give them.
They are in temp jobs.
August showed there are a lot of unhappy people out here. In the last election Obama didn't win 50% of the population, he won 50% of the people who voted. When the Republicans nominated the Democrat John McCain to run against the first black president people voted for novelty and for making history. Think of it as America's Jesse Ventura moment. Many voters that pushed Bush to the second term stayed home. In the end, only about 20% of the entire population (voters and non voters) voted the Quisling in.

America isn't going downhill, it is going to shake of the malaise of this clown just like it did Carter. Only, this time the underlying problems will be addressed.

Think of this as our trial. Our grandparents went through the Great Depression to give us prosperity. We will go through the coming trial to provide our grandchildren prosperity.

Keep the faith. Keep your powder dry.

I'm not as optimistic as you. For one thing, history tells us that all nations rise and fall, and that the cause of such collapse comes from within. America's decline has little to do with Obama or the Democrats. Obama and socialism are the symptoms, not the problem. A nation's moral condition and its character are key to a nation's endurance. This is not going to be corrected by an election. The American character that fought the Germans or endured the Great Depression no longer exists.

What kinda dumb@ss writing is this?

Oh yes, I see it now. The writer truly believes that in the near future, he’ll have to pay for his groceries with ‘special drawing rights’.

Ooookay. Step away from the drugs, please!

“I gotta stop off at the ATM. I’m withdrawing 100 ‘special drawing rights’ for the weekend!”

If they try to replace the dollar here I predict those in power (financially) and legally will LOSE it very shortly!

The only option is to return to the constitution, and go back to a gold/silver standard.

History also shows that nations that fall do so not just from the rot inside, but the rot inside enabling outside forces to take it down.
So, some analogies only go so far. But, if you like, some nations last for a thousand years.

For America, the fundamentals are good. The principles haven’t changed, they just aren’t taught or promoted in the culture. That needs to change.

As for the generations, you couldn’t be more wrong. The current and next generations are better educated, and start off at a more advanced level than our grandparents.
As for their character, the military is all volunteer. When that fails and their character fails, then I will concede the point. Until then I say they are the benchmark of the moral level of our society.
