Roman Polanski is a film genius. He's a director of rare quality. He's also a criminal that three decades ago committed a horrible crime. Before being adjudicated for that crime, he fled the country to another country (France) that wouldn't extradite him back here. He's lived in France since in a fairly comfortable lifestyle. Movie making has logistical problems because he can only make movies in certain countries, but he's never short on Hollywood stars who are pleased to work with him. His genius overrides the heinous nature of his crimes.

There is no crime that an elite liberal can commit and be condemned by the left for.
I’m not sure this is a right and left issue.
It is more of an Aristicrat-Commoner issue, but tends to break to left and right poles.
Movie people carry big weight in the leftist sphere because they are story tellers and are able to transmit thoughts and history with images and speech. Which is the oral tradition so beloved of anthropologists.
The right side tends to be textual in nature and is more modern in it’s approach to ideas and traditons.
“I am saying that he wouldn’t have committed the rape of a thirteen year old had his own wife not been brutally killed.”
BS, Polanski was notorious for chasing very young girls, even some younger than 13, well before his wife was murdered. He admitted as much in several interviews.
Are you kidding? If this had been anyone but a liberal, the left wing whackos would be calling fro his head.
