Where Has All The Weather Gone?
Backcountry Notes ^ | September 28, 2009 | Jay Henderson

Posted on 09/28/2009 6:32:25 AM PDT by jay1949

For years, we have been promised more and more bad weather, stronger "Cat-5" storms, and unprecedented spates of tornadoes. But here we are, more than halfway through the 2009 hurricane season, and we have yet to see as much as a Category 1 storm make landfall. There have been tornadoes, but nothing apocalyptic. Where has all the weather gone?

Good Weather == nothing
Boring weather == nothing.
Bad weather (anywhere in the world) == Apocalypse

jeez..haven’t you heard? Billions to owlgore has stopped global warming and we’re now in a cooling period. Now we have to send even more billions to gore so he can reverse the cooling trend and equalize the weather so it finds a happy balance between warming and cooling.

There is a reason these things are called "hundred year floods".

Yeah...20 inches of rain at my house over a 3 day period is all the weather I can stand... global warming? Heck no. the same thing happened in the early 90’s.

This flood went way beyond the 100 year flood plain.

the cooling period is due to the algore entering a depressive stage and he has quit his manic bloviating...things cooled down fairly quickly after that.

I think the Weathermatic 2000 (built by Halliburton) that Bush was using to steer hurricanes against minorities has been retired to Crawford

Oh, I don’t think this was a result of Global Warming or anything. I’m just saying it’s silly to ask “Where has all the bad weather gone” when just a few days ago the southeast was dying from bad weather. Literally.

Here’s a simple guide:

Hurricanes hit U.S. mainland = Global warming
NO hurricanes hit U.S. mainland = Global climate change

Flooding in GA after years of drought = Global warming
Coldest July in Chicago since 1860 = Global climate change
Snow in Colorado before summer’s end = Global climate change

Glaciers receding = Global warming
Glaciers advancing = Global climate change

Average ocean temperature increases = Global warming
Average ocean temperature decreases = Global climate change

Hope that is helpful. ;->

Got that right. My daughter went down to a normally trickling (if that) creek after the water receded and noticed the ground was sand instead of covered in leaves and debris which it normally is. She and her hubby then checked the plat for the 100 year flood marking and found the water level was 15 feet above what was marked as 100 year.

By the way, the leaves were stuck in the trees about 10-12 feet above her head. This was a bad one.

On monir change required here and then this is classic.

Hurricanes hit U.S. mainland = Global warming
NO hurricanes hit U.S. mainland = Global climate change CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING.

Flooding in GA after years of drought = Global warming
Coldest July in Chicago since 1860 = Global climate change CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING.
Snow in Colorado before summer’s end = Global climate change CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING.

Glaciers receding = Global warming
Glaciers advancing = Global climate change CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING.

Average ocean temperature increases = Global warming
Average ocean temperature decreases = Global climate change CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING.

There.

Don’t forget the modifier ‘man-caused’ (or more precisely, ‘American man-caused’) before ‘global climate change’ or ‘global warming’ ...

Kerr Dam in North Carolina was built in 1952 to hold 500-year flood levels. In the early 1970s, two 1000-year floods in 3 years overflowed the Kerr Dam spillway and caused severe flooding in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Proving that averages are just that — averages. Kerr Dam might be overwhelmed again next year, or not for 5,000 years.

If you want to sound like you know what you’re talking about, use “anthropogenic.”

Thats because the SUN has nothing to do with weather.../sarc

The Sun’s output has dropped in the last couple of years by about 1%. This is evidenced by the lack of sunspots. We are in a solar minimum, and it is going on for an unusually long time. Its about a year too long so far, and is not really showing any signs of getting really active. That can change quite literally in a matter of a few days.
Spaceweather.com covers it quite nicely.

Actually, I was going to use that word, but then I remembered the idiocy level of so many who buy into global warming crap ...

Couldn’t agree more. This also could prove that they grossly underestimated the magnitude and/or frequency of these events. Maybe the 500 year event is that much larger.

Flood zone maps are constantly being revised. It’s very educated guesswork, and usually fairly reliable, but like all such endeavors, subject to change on the basis of better information.
