Report: LGBT group files to Amend CA Constitution by Initiative Process to Overturn Prop 8

Report: On Friday, September 25, 2009, an LGBT organization filed paperwork with the California Attorney General's office to overturn Proposition 8 (Marriage Amendment) by presenting a new Amendment to the State Constitution for the people to vote on in the November 2010 election.

This may be good news for the personhood movement because not only will the pro-life voters be out in force but so will the pro-marriage voters. It won't hurt for an already energized electorate to have additional reasons to show up at the polls.

While some might say that the pro-abortion voters will be out in force as will the pro-homosexual "marriage" voters. While they are a vocal group, they are outnumbered and they do not have right on their side.

We have 400 days until Election Day 2010. We must "raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair. The rest is in the hands of God."

I gotta say, I’m getting really tired of the initiative process.

Every year they come up with another list of initiatives that are deceptively written, deceptively advertised, and some of them really really bad. If they pass, they become part of the state consitution and nothing you can do about it.

Thought everyone might want to read this reminder - The state of California is in our Lord's crosshairs. He's dealt with this issue once and may be irritated that he has become ignored:

Question: "What was the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah?"

Answer: What was the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah? It is abundantly clear that homosexuality was the primary evil. The biblical account of Sodom and Gomorrah is recorded in Genesis chapters 18-19. Genesis chapter 18 records the LORD and two angels coming to speak with Abraham. The LORD reiterated His promise to Abraham that he would have a son through Sarah. The LORD also informed Abraham that "the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous." Verses 22-33 record Abraham pleading with the LORD to have mercy on Sodom and Gomorrah because Abraham's nephew, Lot, and his family lived in Sodom.

Genesis chapter 19 records the two angels, disguised as human men, visiting Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot met the angels in the city square and urged them to stay at his house. The angels agreed. The Bible then informs us, "Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom — both young and old — surrounded the house. They called to Lot, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.'" The angels then proceed to blind all the men of Sodom and Gomorrah and urge Lot and his family to flee from the cities to escape the wrath that God was about to deliver. Lot and his family flee the city, and then "the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah — from the LORD out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in the cities — and also the vegetation in the land."

The men of Sodom and Gomorrah, thinking that the visiting angels were men, wanted to have sex with them. Those who attempt to explain away the biblical condemnations of homosexuality claim that the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was inhospitality. While the men of Sodom and Gomorrah were certainly being inhospitable, that clearly was not all. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah desired to perform homosexual gang rape on the angels. Also, God never declared inhospitality to be an abomination to Him, while Leviticus 18:22 makes God’s view of homosexuality clear: “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.”

While Sodom and Gomorrah were surely guilty of many other horrendous sins, homosexuality was the reason God poured fiery sulfur on the cities, completely destroying them and all of their inhabitants. To this day, the area where Sodom and Gomorrah were located remains a desolate wasteland. Sodom and Gomorrah serve as a powerful example of how God feels about sin in general, and homosexuality specifically.

SNIPPET from your post no. 1:

"We must 'raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair. The rest is in the hands of God.'"

Ditto.

They’ll just keep trying and trying until they catch enough people napping;then,if and when that happens, they’ll say the issue is “settled” and there’s nothing that can be done about it....

The term “energized” is becoming a tiresome and overused replacement term for “wagon jumpers”.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but since the CA Constitution already currently defines marriage as between a man and a woman, doesn't this attempt to change this comprise a constitutional "revision" requiring a much more stringent process of approval? Something like 2/3 approval by the Assembly? It seems to me that is can't go through the same channels of public approval as Prop 8 (which, by the way, merely affirmed prop 22.)

I bet the teh gays and lesbians at West Hollywood are going to be happy. I worked there for two day *shifty eyes* apparently they also have a gay yellow book, they also had a inspirational short poem about Barrack obama *barf*. I loved my mother’s reaction when we went there to shop :D

Excellent question.

So good I’ve already passed it along to our AIP leaders in California to explore.

Thanks.

That makes me glad Texas never adopted the initiative and referendum process. We keep our legislators on a short leash. They only have a 140 day regular session every two years. They don't have much time to pass nonsense politically correct legislation.

Don’t want to take any credit where it is not due - I actually heard this brought up on another conservative board right after the elections last November. It seemed a logical argument then, and much more now.

I had a conversation a while back with a sort of lay-preacher on this, and he brought up a good point. The Sodom and Gomorrah thing was pre-Christ. Once Christ came and began the new covenant, there would be no reason for God to mete out any more earthly punishment of that nature. In other words, He would not destroy San Francisco, or California (the idea that He would hate the whole state is ludicrous anyway).

One other thing - look at how the legislature tries, usually successfully, to overturn the will of the people. These bastards in Sacramento have driven us to the verge of bankruptcy. They are abject lunatics. There has to be some way for the people to have some kind of hammer on them, although I’d prefer a boot on their necks.

Besides all that, it’s yucky and these queers prancing around in public naked except for a black leather jock strap, plastic stiletto-heeled leopard boots and a pink feather boa are disgusting. In fact, I’d say they are evil.

Ca is F**KED.

Everyone with common sense is fleeing the massive taxes and regulation.

I’m guessing this amendment will pass in a landslide.

Bad guess. That’s exactly the kind of result that was predicted concerning Prop 8.

Some of us are not prepared to give up our largest, most populous, most prosperous, most electorally rich State, thanks.

Of course you are right and I didn't mean to imply that our Lord would punish innocents. It is clear that he does not approve of homosexuality, regardless that Sodom and Gomorrah took place pre-Christ. If 'powers that be' in the state of California overturn Prop 8, they will be defying God.

Excuse my ignorance, but not familiar with the AIP. Do they have much push, or a legal ammunition, that can get this issue expounded?

The "people" elect these liberal lunatics. I never cease to be astounded at the absolute disconnect in the thinking of the majority in California who incessantly elect the fascists that create policy that they are dead opposed to just because they have a "D" by their name.

Keep in mind that the left has worked long and hard to turn the average California public school student into a blithering idiot.

The reason this is the way it is has to do with the redistricting court case a good number of years ago. The pubs caved and handed the rats control of this state in perpetuity. That’s how we came to be where we are today - an abysmal mess created by wussy pubs who forfeited power. Some day when you have some extra time, read up on CA redistricting and you’ll under stand it.
