Radical Clerics Support Ethnic Cleansing and Abortion
Amerisrael ^

Posted on 08/20/2009 5:09:22 PM PDT by Amerisrael

A recent survey was conducted among clergy of mostly non-evangelical churches.

The survey found that a full 51% of those clergy support legalized abortion.

Also according to the survey:

"Two-thirds of mainline clergy disagree that "the Bible is the inerrant word of God, both in matters of faith and in historic, geographical, and other secular matters."

Which serves to explain these other findings:

* Sixty-five percent support either same-sex marriage or civil unions. * Fifty-four percent do not support the teaching of creationism alongside evolution in public school biology classes. * Forty-three percent disagree that evolution is the best explanation for the origins of life on earth. * Seventy-eight percent agree that the federal government should do more to solve social problems

An important note:

Nearly every one of those non-evangelical church denominations listed above are also board members of CMEP [Churches For Middle East Peace].

Don't let the name throw you, CMEP advocates ethnic cleansing. In particular, the ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Israelis from their own land.

Other "board members" of CMEP include the Mennonite Central Committee and the American Friends Service . Those are the two church organizations that hosted Iranian dictator Ahmadinejad for "talks and dinner".

They are correct on this. The Bible is written by men, inspired by God. It is not God's unerrant, literal words.

No person holding to the biblical Gospel of Jesus Christ believes these “clergy” are even Christians, let alone representing the positions believers should hold with respect to Israel and life.

These demonic crackpots have been attempting to take over the “churches” for decades, back to and including the late 1800s when liberalism reared its ugly head.

We stand with Israel and understand if they need to put one down the pipe in Iran, or kick the trespassing Arabs out of Palestine, that is appropriate. This, in spite of the errant administration running our show today.

Not sure where you got the word “unerrant”, but most Christians agree that the Scriptures (in the original texts) contain the inerrant Word of God. All translations of those texts are attempts to put the same thoughts into a local language, other than Koine Greek or Hebrew.

We almost universally agree that the current translations get that job done nicely. And the references to historic, geographical, and other “secular” matters are just as reliable as the references to matters of faith.

The u is right next to the i. Thick fingers. LOL.

but most Christians agree that the Scriptures (in the original texts) contain the inerrant Word of God.

Did God write the Bible? Did he pass a complete Bible to man?

No.

It was written by mortal men and other mortal men, from a variety of texts selected some as part of the Bible, throwing out other texts.

Mortal men inspired by God do not equal God's own inerrant words.

"And the references to historic, geographical, and other “secular” matters are just as reliable as the references to matters of faith."

Genesis i.e. can hardly be taken literally in a historic, geographical and "secular" sense.

The Bible has been shown to be fairly accurate in historic and geographical matters but I can see arguments that it is not infallible in them

But if you do not consider the Bible as the basis of your faith you have nothing to guide you but your own conscience. In other words you have no base and you are lost.

Disputing the historical, geographical and secular inerrancy of the Bible does not mean negating it's religious truths.

I do not take the Bible literally which in many of it's details, especially in matters of history, science and geography is symbolic. Genesis i.e. cannot be seriously taken literally to explain history and geography.

The Bible has been shown to be fairly accurate in historic and geographical matters but I can see arguments that it is not infallible in them.

So we are in agreement on this. Kernels of historical truth were over time "decorated" with lore, tradition and symbolism. There is divine truth in it, but it's letters written by mortal and fallible men do not reflect reality.

The Torah, in its entirety, was written by G-d. Moses merely recorded His dictation.

What the about post-Torah texts?

G-d transmitted the Written Torah and the Oral Torah to Moses on Mt. Sinai. The Oral Torah was not originally written down but was eventually frozen in form as the Mishnah and Talmud when it seemed in danger of disappearing under Roman persecution.

The Nevi'im were written by Prophets under the spirit of Prophecy, which means they wrote their own words. Still, all the words of the Prophets are true. The Ketuvim were written under Ruach HaQodesh ("the holy spirit," also called Divine Inspiration), which is a step lower than Prophecy. However the Torah is not Prophecy and was not written under Divine Inspiration. It was composed by G-d and then dictated to Moses letter for letter. You may choose to reject this, but this is the immemorial tradition.
