I attended a Town Hall last night, hosted by Anthony Weiner. Afterwards, a small group of Patriots decided to stay & discuss ObamaCare & it's implications.
In our small circle of new FRiends, were two former citizens of the Soviet Union. They had arrived in America years ago, after The Wall came down (Thanks Ronnie!) and the dissolution of the USSR.
"Andrey" and his companion were just *disgusted* & horrified at what they are witnessing! They were telling us how they couldn't believe what is happening in America right now. They had come to America with high hopes of living the American Dream, in Freedom & Prosperity. Only to find now, to their amazement, that America is becoming a socialist country right before their eyes! AND THEY DON'T LIKE IT!
They are foreseeing having to live in the same repressive & regressive environment they had just escaped from!
They told horrible tales of gov't run hospitals having 6 or more patients to a room, with no medical staff available & supervision only by a willing family member for days at a time. Deathly ill patients left to languish for days on end. One bathroom to a whole floor of sick patients, many of whom would just urinate & defecate in the halls because they were too weak to "hold it." - Citizens reporting other "FISHY" citizens who might have said something against the gov't. These people would be taken away...and most would never return. - Terrible stories of food rationing & starvation etc, etc. These were POWERFUL first hand accounts!!
After hearing these stories, it dawned on me...THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED TO HEAR THESE STORIES FIRSTHAND!! I mean, WHO BETTER to warn Americans on where we're headed ~ into a CESSPOOL of SOCIALISM, if not COMMUNISM ~ than former Soviet citizens who have experienced the horror of it FIRSTHAND!?!?
So, after some continued discussion amongst ourselves, the concept of "RUSSIAN TEA PARTIES" was hatched and proposed. A gentleman, a member of the TeaParty365 group (name withheld), was proposing how we might work this all out ~ in advertising & canvassing to target former Soviet citizens who are of like mind & might be willing to participate. Of course, these "Russian Tea Parties" would be open to ALL Patriots of every background, but the emphasis would be to provide a platform for former Soviet citizens to tell their stories & warn all Americans of what is happening...and what may be to come! Can you say SQUIRM MSM!!
I think the prospect of, and potential of this "RTP" concept is exciting! So...what say YE FReepers?? Anyone who has ideas, and/or who might want to get involved to organize this thing, I'm all ears. This will be GRASSROOTS PATRIOTISM at it's finest!

Yes we do...If it means Russian-Americans can have a platform to warn their fellow citizens about the horrors of socialism. TGhere were 7 people in our circle, ALL of which thought it was a great idea. And the 3 positve replies here so far. So far, 10-1 says it’s a good idea.
These Russian’s I would have every thing to do with because they will tell the truth about where we are headed if we don’t / can’t change direction!!
Sounds like a good idea, but I would aim the concept toward including US citizens that have immigrated from any of the former Soviet Block countries. We have several friends from the Czech Republic, some of which who escaped from there, that have told us that what they see happening with this administration is very similar to what they saw happening in their country. Needless to say, they are not happy with Obama and the direction this country is going in.

It would be VERY POWERFUL to have a well spoken person from the former USSR speak at the 9-12 Rally in DC!! Glenn Beck is giving the rally live coverage on Fox. Just a thought.

There are 2 local ladies here who survived Nazi Germany. They are equally horrified to see what is happening to the USA. Perhaps I can work with some of the local groups to have them speak at a rally. I’d like to know what your experiences are, etc.
I’d prefer private emails.

And BTW, don’t confuse the word “Russian” with the words “Communist” or “Socialist.” There are a myriad of Russian folks who abhor Communism, are good & decent human beings, highly cultured, deeply spiritual, highly intelligent & multi-talented. They love their families & want to live prosperous & peaceful lives.
Yes, let's get the word out & see what the interest is first. Then we can all put our heads together about forming the first RTP! Thanks again!

This is pretty much universal from those that come from (former) communist countries. They can’t stand the Democrats and they always say, “What they are doing is why we left to come here!!”

It is an interesting idea. You know that plant girl asking Obama a question just triggered in me this rage, it 100% resembled the young pioneers crap we used to have back in the old country. I almost smashed my TV. How dumb can people be?
When I read the title of the thread I remember when USSR fell, I lived in Kyiv then and student there staged a hunger strike. I was about 13 then and going there talking to the people profoundly changed me.. also reading Archipelag Gulag around the same age. I live in Canada so not sure I can help much, but is a good idea I am sure there are more people like those guys and me who would be happy to help.
One issue you will have that few of us can talk calmly about it. I can debate people of any kind, but actually speaking about it in public would more resemble a call to hang all commies off the lamposts rather then a good account of events.
Thanks for your input & offer to participate. Now that we have YouTube, it would makes getting these stories out to the masses via video and much easier & maybe less threatening for some who might be hesititant to speak in front of crowds. We’ll keep you posted.

re Cubans in the US, many of the English-speaking population left early on, and didn’t experience the horrors of Communism. Many of the recent arrivals, who have lived the nightmare, don’t speak English.

Now that is a GREAT idea! It would much easier to have hundreds of survivors of communist regimes to record a video and post on You Tube.
I have an account there. I’d be more than happy to post any video for those are not comfortable posting it themselves.
OK, great. We are just in the info gathering phase. Once we have enough participants we will organize the gatherings acording to locations & make sure we have one or two volunteers videographers at each event. Then we can gather the vids & edit them to post on YouTube. One of the Patriots in our circle yesterday is in video production. Stay tuned.

BL, it has potential. I passed your thread onto one of our friends who is now a US citizen, but who escaped from Soviet occupied Czechoslovakia several years ago. Her reaction was: “I have been trying to tell everybody who voted for Obama what they can expect, but most people are naive. They don’t think it can happen in this country and sometimes they don’t even believe how bad socialism is when I try to explain it to them. I would like to send everybody who voted for the man to Siberia for one year. Then maybe they would get it.” I’m sure this is the same reaction you have, and will hear, from most others that have immigrated from the Soviet block countries.
