The Dems held the seat for 40 years. And now it is gone.

Worm turning?
The tip of the iceberg......
The voters are beginning to realize that Democrats have more in common with Marx and Stalin than with Jefferson and Jackson.
for those of us who followed these sorts of things after Clinton was sworn in in 1993, this is EXACTLY the type of things that preceded the GOP blowout of 1994.
It COULD happen again!
Well, this will certainly get Rahm’s attention...
The shadow of 2010?
Mr Obama had better nationalize everything before 2010.
The first drop of the coming tide.
Lets hope we get a better set of results out of such a “blowout”.
Not a whole lot of information here.....should I assume this was a U.S. Congressional race, not the Delaware legislature? Hard to tell when it’s just names and no office listed.
Start the list of those that will not be re-elected. Please feel free to keep adding names:
Dingry Harry
Babs Boxer
Countrywide Dodd
This should get all of the Dems attention. Now we just need the RNC to run real conservatives against ALL Dems.
No Dem congressperson or RINO should feel safe.
Woooohooo!
Or is that hatespeech now?
uh...not an accusation, just need a clarification.
This was a Del. state senate seat and the area is mostly rural , conservative, although it has been held by a Dem. (redistricted in the past) Nothing too much to see here, IMO.
Roughly one month ago Delaware State Senator (Senator President Pro Tem as well) Thurman Adams (D) died at the age of 80 from a bout with pancreatic cancer. There was a special election yesterday and the two front runners were Joe Booth (R) and Polly Adams Mervine (D and daughter of the late Senator Thurman Adams). Polly had two major things going for her:
1) she is a Democrat; and
2) she is the daughter of Thurman.
Legacy politics is the political way of life in Delaware. Beau Biden won the AG’s spot because of his last name... nothing else.
Nevertheless Joe Booth won, taking a seat that was held by the Democratic Party for roughly 40 years in a state where the Democrats rule the House, Senate, and the Governor’s office.
What is most remarkable about the win was the margin. Joe garnered over 60% of the vote in a heavy Democrat area and trounced Adams Mervine by 30 points.
I went to a couple of the polling places and the turn out for Republicans was huge. Far be it from me to say this is a bellwether, but I would venture a guess that the current state of local and national politics is beginning to bring out the conservative wing of the Republican Party here. And if it can happen here it will likely happen elsewhere.
The only state-wide elected Republican is the RINO Mike Castle. Yeah, that Mike Castle, one of the eight Republicans that voted for Cap and Trade. He had a town hall that was put on you tube and subsequently posted on Drudge. He was holding a Town Hall on Health care and what you see transpired. People (Republicans particularly) are angry at Castle and I think his days are numbered.
There will be another Special Election here in DE to fill Booth’s seat he vacated in the House and we will see how that goes. But from everything I garner here, there is going to be a shakeup here in state politics that may translate to bigger and better things.
Follow the links. It was a state assemblyman running for the state senate seat of a democrat who’d passed away. He was running against the daughter of a big-wig former democrat senator and blew her out of the water by over 30%.
aka MADAME SENATOR BOXER
Don’t know anything about the winner. Is it a major league RINO?
Unfortunately, I see no evidence that Republican leadership that brought this scourge upon us have repented and reformed themselves.
“Mr Obama had better nationalize everything before 2010.”
Tragically, they know this ... that’s why they are VERY close to getting their Cap-N-Trade and Healtcare For the Masses passed.
2010 is going to be a VERY interesting year. Hopefully it is the year that America reconnects with its conservative roots after facing Marxism directly in the face.
The republicans had better pay attention to the base this time!
But every now and then, not often but occasionally, the Dems get enough seats to do serious damage to the country, often with the help of the squishes. And it never gets reversed.
It's a one-way ratchet, and once the US is part of greater Mexico, it's doomed.
The first drop of the coming tidal wave.(there, fixed)
Shhhh...why do you think he’s trying to push through that health-care farce?
Until they they stop acting liking a bunch of Dems in public and private I'm not holding out much hope.
“Start the list of those that will not be re-elected. Please feel free to keep adding names:”
Mike Bennet - CO
Arlen Spector - PA
Blanche Lincoln - AR
If only if we could speed up time to get to the 2010 elections!
Senetress?
I have read that this legislation will take until the end of 2010 to implement. So if the GOP gets a landslide, what’s to say they couldn’t repeal any of this legislation. Hopefully, the GOP will get enough seats to override any vetoes that come along. We need more than just a majority. We need to be able to override vetoes.
it was not a suprise outcome, but the addition of a Libertarian and a Conservative independent made it look like it could be close
Could it be because they are not paying attention to what happened with Hillary’s health care and are purveying the same junk under this clown? Could they be so dumb as to listen to the dribble that the people objecting in these town hall meetings are insurance company agents? Boy I hope so. What we have there right now is the bottom of the barrel.
Or could it be that they are pushing Cap and Trade in spite of a cool summer, wherewith people are realizing what Al Gore is? Everything they are selling is loaded with the prospect of big tax hikes for all of us, and they can’t figure out why we object? Hello! Go ahead and pass this crap and see what happens.
They didn’t learn from 1994. Looks like they’re going to do it again!
Chris Countrywide Dodd
