Writing for Little Green Footballs, Charles Johnson reports that so-called birthers have now dug up a document they say proves President Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii.
Today we get a ludicrous effort by head Nirther Orly Taitz to foist off an obviously fake “Kenyan birth certificate” with Barack Obama’s name on it: Is this really it? (re: possible Obama’s Kenyan B.C. - Attny Taitz).
These people are getting desperate. World Net Daily is also salivating over this.
The posts were published shortly after Republican Congressman Eric Cantor blamed liberal media and bloggers for hyping the birtherism movement.
Although those individuals have certainly done their best to pretend that all conservatives believe Obama to be born in Kenya rather than on American soil, Johnson rightly points out that many birther posts at far-right websites are extremely popular. The ones responding positively to such articles are (extreme) conservatives (lunatics, actually), not liberal ‘journalists’ and bloggers.
Those of us who aren’t very fond of Obama’s policies have to distance ourselves as far as possible from birthers. These people embarrass the entire conservative movement. Instead of helping it, as they say they want to, they hurt it. The best way to prevent Republicans from making a comeback in Congress next year is for conservative critics of Obama to claim that he lied about his place of birth.
In other words, enough already. It’s time to be serious.

except wait- that is the middle of Stanly's divorce from BO Sr and exactly what the lawyer who handled the case would have had onfile from the divorce and custody proceedings.
A divorce court judge would have required a real BC (or legally certified copy with raised seal) to determine paternity and grant custody of the child

Because whether it’s true or not, and whether the public would ever seriously admit they buy into it if asked in a public setting, privately people are drawn to these types of stories. A little doubt creeps in, and then they start to question on other issues. Liberals used these stories to some effect against Bush. All those saying this will not bring Obama down are correct just as the 1 million stories told of Bush didn’t stop him winning two elections. But the heart of the story isn’t the BC but that Obama is notoriously secretive and this story feeds that perception. It won’t bring him down, even if it were true. But if it makes people question why he’s evasive about the smallest of measures and that leads to caution over his other actions? I see no harm as long as this diversion doesn’t lead focus away from the fights over policy or electing conservatives to office.
Besides, maybe I’m just tired of the establishment in general. Too full of themselves, even the bloggers. If they wanted it to stay a small movement, they’d just shut up. But they keep talking about it which in turn gives them more traffic or notice and a cache in not being “one of them”. I lean to not beleiving it, but if it gives them heart burn I say carry on until they learn to lighten up.

Embarrassing that so called conservatives like yourself do not question why Obama fights so hard to keep from releasing these documents. I’m with PubliusNM. I don’t give a damn if the Republicans ever win an election again. They had eight years to get rid of abortion, scale back the government, destroy affirmative action, and get rid of income taxes — and they blew it.

What I’d like to know is....where were all these `responsible’ Republicrats a year ago when the GOP was successfully foisting off on the rest of us an obviously fake conservative candidate.
