Democratic Congressman Rick Boucher, who represents the Ninth District in southwestern Virginia, has come under fire recently for his support of the cap-and-trade bill. The letters-to-the-editors columns in the local papers have been burning up with criticisms, along with a smattering of support. Recently Boucher voted no on the current House version of the Obamacare bill, however, and he has scheduled a town hall meeting later this month to take some constituent input on the matter.

Ricky boy is starting to feel the heat. He may do down in ‘010.
Yeah, all the local newspapers have turned against him for his Cap & Tax vote, and apparently he had a town hall meeting at Max Meadows last week that went very badly for him. He’s survived this long in SWVA through generous pork and by talking out of both sides of his mouth, telling his coal mining constituents one thing but then carrying Pelosi and Waxman’s water on Capitol Hill. I think SWVA has just woke up to him and his liberalism.
Great!! As Oblazma continues to become an millstone around the Rats neck his opponent can link him to Obama and plaster him. I see VA switching red again in the next 2-3 or maybe 4 elections. I commute on 66 and the number of Obama bumper stickers has decreased significantly as many who voted for this mess has turned against him or fear their fellow citizens.
He hadn’t said much before the cap-and-trade backlash; he issued the statement against the House Obamacare bill after that. Prior to, has voted conventional Democratic line - - see: http://www.ontheissues.org/va/Rick_Boucher_Health_Care.htm
Cap & Trade got him into big trouble since he voted against the Coal Industry and can’t run away from that vote no matter how hard he tries. He’s been publishing a long detailed response in all the local papers, trying the to make the standard Democrat argument that it was better for Congress to screw the coal industry than the EPA. Needless to say, he didn’t convince very many people.
