Colin Powell Responds to Rush Limbaugh; Says GOP Leaders Afraid of Rush - Video 7/28/09

Here is video of Colin Powell tonight on Larry King Live responding to comments by Rush Limbaugh recently and saying he thinks Republican leaders are afraid of Rush Limbaugh because of the strong base of support he has in the GOP. Powell said he gets to decide which party he is in whether Rush Limbaugh thinks he should be in the GOP or not.

Colin Powell can call himself a Republican, but he has forfeited his opportunity to be a leading voice in the Republican Party. He calls himself a "moderate" in the GOP, and last year the GOP ran a very moderate candidate in John McCain. McCain is a veteran with heroic service in Vietnam, strong on defense -- in other words, the perfect candidate for Colin Powell. Yet, Powell threw him over the side and endorsed a flaming liberal Democrat in Barack Obama. Colin Powell is the only one who considers himself to be a Republican. . . . . . (Watch Video)

HEY COLIN. You can go back to kissing Obama’s ass now. Tell me Colin, does it taste like chicken. Can someone throw this horses ass out of the GOP already. If the GOP continues to support this clown, well, that says a lot about the GOP doesn’t it

Oh, they are terrified of Sarah, just as much as the Dems. I bet they wake up at night saying “No Sarah No, we want big Government, we want socialized health care, small government, no no that can’t happen.”

Obviously Powell gets to pick his party.

What he hasn’t done is explain why he’s a Republican, or what it is about Republicans that he admires so much that he wants to be counted among them.

And he hasn’t explained how that jibes with his support for Obama.

Rush should just ignore him.
He's already smacked him down plenty of times, why go through this again?

Colon just wants attention, that's all.

He’s assigned by the Democrats to the Republican Party takeover committee. The same committee the RINO’s answer to.

Seems as such anyway.

If the man were a true Conservative he would have been smokin’ mad at someone telling him he wasn’t...I know I would, and I’d have had plenty of examples to cite to prove I was. Powell said NOTHING of substance...rather, he did a little verbal dance of generalities around the subject.

Powell can call himself a Republican if he chooses, and I can call myself the reincarnation of Dolly Madison, but that doesn't make either of them correct. Powell is what he is: clueless, irrelevant and a racist.

Having served under Gen. Powell (Joint Chiefs) during Gulf War I, I salute his service to our country and his leadership in time of war. That said, I think he needs to stop playing chameleon and officially register as a Democrat.

I'm sick of these RINO's playing games. Leave the GOP or I'll go find a party worth my time.

He was an affirmative action general. Ask Tommy Franks and Gen Sswartzkopf thought of him. It’s in Scwartzkopf’s book

"colon bowell just another democrat; he voted for comrade obama."

The greatest career accomplishment of Powell was being born with brown skin.

I think the affirmative action general is frightened of being outed as a go-along-to-get-ahead of very little actual substance, and the best way to avoid that is the same route the joke-president Jimmy Carter took: Become a useful idiot of the Left.

"Forgot to mention Franks called him an REMF"

I've always thought Powell's illustrious career had to be affirmative action. I didn't know Sswartzkopf and Franks said so.

He was a soldier with no balls and a Secretary of State with no statesmanship.

BTW, what is an "REMF", if you can expound a little without breaking the decency rules.

So does that other racist...David Duke. But that doesn't make either one of them Republicans.

If they are afraid of Rush it is becuase they remember when he used his show to shut down the switch boards of the Congress when the rinos and demos tried to block the contract with America reforms. Anyone remember that?

Rear echelon mother fletcher .... if ya catch my drift vern. those that direct from the rear with out having the slightest idea what is happening on front lines. Know it all bozos who would wet their pants if they had to lead.

We had lots of those during nam ... they were pentagon (navy) Captains, Admirals that never got out of the beltway ... and because they were always addressing the worthless congresscritters .. were often promoted and often to another level of pentagon service. They couldn’t lead men to the crapper.

Powell was one of those ... his major flag duty was never in the field but in pentagon jobs. He directed from the rear ... never in harms or close to harms way. Ask senior officers (any service) about pentagon duty. Those that “Can do” despise it ... even the minimum two years they are required to serve.

Powell loved it .. never left. Franks and Schwartkopf did everything they could to stay out of the pentagon

Yep Powell can be in any party he wants.

He's already picked his allegiance.

He's in the tank for Obama.

Endorsed and voted for him

Even if it was because he saw him as "Barrack like me" (play on words from an old book by John Howard Griffin)
