Christian Groups Encourage Premarital Sex, Claiming The Bible Says Nothing Against It

"I hear from so many Christian women who say there biggest mistake was not having more sex before marriage and now find themselves in such a totally unsatisfying relationship physically. Where is one to learn good sex skills when both partners are ignorant? There is far more to sex than just having intercourse. Studies show about 40% of women never have an orgasm from just intercourse and most women enjoy far more. That is why so many women are sexually frustrated when a man doesn't have a clue- how is he supposed to learn, or the women learn of her own sexuality if they go into marriage clueless without much experience?" More than nine out of 10 Americans, men and women alike, have had premarital sex, according to a new study. The high rates extend even to women born in the 1940s, challenging perceptions that people were more chaste in the past.

"This is reality-check research," said the study's author, Lawrence Finer. "Premarital sex is normal behavior for the vast majority of Americans, and has been for decades."

Um, if you can learn sex outside of marriage, surely you can learn about it in a marriage. Just takes two humans and a really strong, in-born drive. duh.

I saw a thread the other day about a “Christian” group that was pro-abortion because the Bible didn’t not explicitly say it was wrong.

That logic opens up a host of possibilities including making love to a cantaloupe, tree, etc. since the Bible doesn’t explicitly say it is wrong...

People lose sight of the fact that it doesn’t matter what we “think”. My understanding of the scriptures and Christianity is that any sexual relations outside of marriage is wrong. What I “think” or “feel” doesn’t matter. God, in His infinite wisdom, has given us instructions on how to live and behave. I don’t always understand why - but I do know our Heavenly Father Loves us very much, and these “rules” were given because of that Love.-—JM

I guess if “sexual skills” are what you are looking for, you should marry a prostitute - I hear they’re pretty skilled in that category.

As a woman, the biggest turn-on ever for me is being in the arms of the man I love. The rest just comes naturally. It’s sad, young people today are being sold a $hitty bill of goods - and by churches, of all things.

1 Corinthians 10:23 - “All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify.”

Paul was specifically addressing eating the meat sacrificed to idols. But for the mature Christian it’s a guide regarding those issues that are not specifically addressed in the Word.

The problem is there are a whole lot of “christians” that care more about finding loopholes to license their sin than in seeking to do Jesus’ will.

I think they do and disregard scriptures because it “cramps their style.” Being a Christian isn’t always easy. It has given me great Joy - but we also have struggles. A lot of churches now only emphasize Joy, but they also have a duty to talk about the hard things, and that often means going against what the world says. As sad as I am for my country, the moral decline of some of our “churches” pains me more, because at the end of the day, Christ is our only true hope.-—JM

St. Paul may be referring to prostitution in I Cor. 6:9 (pornoi).

In the Old Testament it is taken for granted that women would be virgins when they married for the first time--see Deuteronomy 22 where it refers to "tokens of virginity." Priests were required to marry virgins (no widows or divorced women).

There are prohibitions against sex out side of marriage, something like “flee from fornication” found in a the Book of Acts and many other admonitions. these people are nuts.... and they surely don't read scripture with any sense of understanding!

so then why aren't there more happy marriages? if premarital sex is the answer, and just about everybody is doing it and has been for decades, then most married people should have at least a satisfactory sex life...

Joy comes from the nearness of Christ. Fornication, of course, does not bring you closer to Him.

Someone mentioned that abortion is supposedly not forbidden in the Bible. However, a man who strives with a pregnant woman and kills the baby inside is guilty of murder. Unborn children are described as living souls. Even John the Baptist rejoiced while in the womb when in the presence of the unborn Jesus. We might say the Bible doesn’t forbid the murder of middle-aged schoolteachers or farmers in the field, because they are not specifically mentioned! But killing of all human beings is forbidden, except for the defense of self or others or for capital punishment.
