The idea that Obama is some great orator is absurd. He can’t even humanize reading the TOTUS. He’s a horrible speaker. I was analyzing some of his speeches from a purely clinical POV as someone who took two years of speech in college. He’s not that good. Remembering what I learned and the criticisms I got in my classes he would probably not get better than a “C” grade.
I loved her “I aint in no ways turd” speech. A classic!
That speech was ridiculous. An affected accent and a very poor one at that. It sounded as silly as I would if I affected a Welsh accent and tried to give a speech.
How embarrassing!

Similar to “I ain’t no ways tired” Hillary Clinton.
A bit condescending I would think.
I’ve noticed before that he does this. Since Barry has no inner reality, he can fake whatever one he wants and thinks will make his audience love him.
It’s particularly condescending in the case of blacks since Obama is essentially just a white lefty yuppy with slightly darker than average skin and has nothing in common with his African American audience. But they seemed to be eating it up, so obviously it works.
You can’t analyze his speeches as you would in a college class. The speeches are full of statements that say nothing, but imply a lot. He’d be laughed out of a college speech class or a debating society with those speeches.
His oratory powers come from a combination of the hypnotic qualities of his voice, coupled with the fact that his audience has been prepared beforehand by the media and their own expectations. He says nothing, but they hear what they want to hear.
He could read the phone book for a hour and his Faithful would still swoon and swear afterwards that he had delivered a “powerful message”.
That was his “Uighur” accent

Recall how enthralled with himself he is as he pronounces Arabic words and phrases fluently to impress his other friends.
When in Austria, speak Austrian. When addressing the folks, speak Black. No one seemed to call him on his patronizing.

Yes, the key phrase is “enthralled with himself.” That’s what our Sociopath in Chief is all about. I just wish the rest of the country would wake up to the fact.
But sociopaths always have a strange ability to convince the people whom they want to use that they are alike, all on the same page, and speak the same language - regardless of any logic to the contrary.

Forty years ago Black Americans spoke better English than they do today. In their effort to dumb themselves down they have adopted Ebonics as their national language and the primal scream of the Black preacher as their rhetorical flourish. In giving his speech, Obama reinforced the reality that Blacks are separate, and that they choose to remain a minority apart from mainstream America.

I teach college English, and you are correct. He does all the wrong things, like dropping off at the end of a sentence so that you don’t understand what he is saying. He also could use some speech therapy for that effeminate whistle.

As someone else has pointed out, Obama usually sounds like a mix of Captain Kirk and Ken from A Fish Called Wanda.
Bammy’s teleprompter-less sentences often are untrue, and usually begin a with phrase, then a few semi-staccato 2-5 word blurts spaced by “um” or “ah”, and then a bit of a longer finale, like this:
“I will cut taxes - cut taxes - for, um, 95 percent of all working families, because, um, in an economy like this, um, the last thing we should do is raise taxes on the middle class.”

It wasn’t just wierd, it was scary for me! Was he channeling Rev Wright?
It reminded me of that Al Gore talk before a black audience, except without the roaring theatrics.
