Day one of the questioning part of the Judge Sonia Sotomayor confirmation hearings almost made me feel dirty. Between the Judge backtracking on almost everything she had ever said, and the Democrats kissing up, by the end of the day of hearings I actually felt dirty, like I needed a shower.
Probably the most dramatic part of the day's activities were the Judges answers to the "I would hope that a wise Latina woman, with the richness of her experiences, would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male." statement. Her back track explanation was so confusing, it made one feel as they fell into a advanced quantum physics class.
Senator Jeff Sessions did a great job pinning down Sonia Sotomayor forcing her to disavow almost everything she ever said. Sessions was once a judge testifying before the Senate himself, in fact Sessions was "Borked" even before Judge Bork was "Borked."

I wish Sotomayor would get borked ... the left needs to see what it feels like.
Then he goes on to say but, “I won’t hold that against you”.
Her actions over the past two decades speaks volumes on her ideology. She is a racist activist judge who lied today in front of congress. For the Republicans not to demand that she steps down as the nominee is criminal.
Her excuse for the excerpt from her speach about a ‘Latina judge making a better decision than a white man’ was bogus. She stated that she was only trying to inspire Latinas. How does making a racist comment inspire Latina students?
Lindsey Graham’s Smack Down: “If I Said That, They Would Have My Head. (But I will vote for you anyway I’m just giving you a hard time for fund raising, re-election purposes.)”
“...Sotomayor will probably be confirmed but at least thanks to Sessions and Graham, Americans will have a better idea of what we are getting.”
I’ll bet Lindsay Gramnesty votes for Sotomayor, the spineless wuss.
I don’t believe it’s fair to Graham to say that. We have so much else for which to criticize him, let us give him credit when it’s due. He was magnificent today.
I feel as if we ought to be doing something to stop this. I don’t know what it is.
Lindsey Grahams Smack Down: If I Said That, They Would Have My Head. (But I will vote for you anyway Im just giving you a hard time for fund raising, re-election purposes. Did I mention I’m all for amnesty and was a total squish on judicial issues when we Republicans ran this place? No? Well, how about my grating effeminate mannerisms, did I mention that?)
after reading the comments i realize that i am in the minority but i see this differently than others. i saw sen. graham playing cat and mouse with this woman. i saw sen. graham used a bit of that legendary southern gentleman charm and then turn it off completely and put her on the spot and threw her way off balance. she looked like a deer caught in the headlights more than once. especially when he disarmed her by saying he personally liked her and could maybe vote for her and then slammed her with some nasty character assassinations from attorneys. she did not seem to have any balance with him. kinda like she thought she might be able to relax and then booooomm! he throws a curve ball. and he did it in that terribly charming southern style that never seems like an attack. sen. graham was good today.
Sen. Graham did a nice job here, actually, better than I would have imagined.
How do you like the results of affirmative action?
Maybe that will force the specs of the fence that is not being built on the southern border to be a foot shorter as not to discriminate against the *height challenged* lawbreakers.
It inspires them by teaching them that as members of the Latina Uebermenschen they should take pride in being inherently superior to non-Latinas.
This idiot dis-qualifies her for the slot then vows to vote for her. What a slime bag RINO. There is big difference between a lib and our pubbies. Libs stab the nominee until he is dead. Our pubbies personally like all the libs that come before them, then demonstrate how incompetent the nominee is and then vote for them.
That’s precisely why I said I was surprised. He’s becoming a lib on voting because someone in the Senate owns him —it’s what happens to all of them up there, after a term—but he talked the talk for a few minutes, even though as you say he won’t walk the walk..
I think he is owned by the Dems with blackmail material. I don’t think you have to guess what that is...
I’m in that minority with you. It was beautiful how she could never be sure of her footing with him. Did you watch the clip? See her rapid, blinky eye movements? I can’t even do that in front of a mirror while trying to. He made her entirely too nervous, adding weight to his argument about her temperament not being quite judicial.
It’s the same thing “they” have on every Senator up there! And Congressional reps, too...We really need term limits to limit the need to create and keep blackmail material on our reps.
By getting her to agree that she is the beneficiary of an outrageous double standard, he made the simultaneous point that Schumer, Leahy, and the rest of Senate Judiciary Committee Democrat tag team are loathsome hypocrites of the first rank.
It was well done.
yeah what was up with the blinky thing? that was just disturbing. that clip really was cool and my hat is off to sen. graham and that smooth southern style of his.
Loved the way Graham read to her comments of various lawyers who’ve dealt with her - saying she was hostile, attacked lawyers whose arguments she didn’t like, was out of control, did not have a judicial termperament and on and on - “I ask tough questions of both sides” was her weak reply......
Watch for her to engage in some outrageously offensive payback soon after she is confirmed. Those racist Republicans can’t be permitted to diss the Wise Latina without consequence.
This woman has accounts to settle, when she makes it to the SC court, many people will be shocked at her rulings...mark my word.
She should be....too bad the Republicans will not stop her.
