The CIA’s job is not to kill people. That’s the military’s job. The CIA’s job is to protect American interests covertly. That job may necessitate killing every now and then (for example, if the CIA locates a terrorist), but that is not their primary function.

The CIA was formed at the end of WWII when leadership concluded that they didn’t want to start another war with zero knowledge about potential adversaries. Thus, ostensibly, the primary mission of the CIA is to gather basic intelligence about the countries of the world. They have loads of “analysts” whose job is to read the newspapers and pay attention to the media of countries around the world.

Ummm.
I thought the CIA’s job was gather foreign intelligence and provide an interface between intelligence units of the various armed forces, Navy, Army, Air Force, etc, ‘cause they don’t talk to each other very well.
