Ward Churchill in Denial

A jury may have decided in April that University of Colorado at Boulder officials violated former professor Ward Churchill’s first amendment rights when firing him, but a Denver District Court Judge has ruled that Churchill will neither receive his job back nor receive front pay for his termination.
“Professor Churchill’s own statements during the trial established that he has not seriously pursued any efforts to gain comparable employment, but has instead chosen to give lectures and other presentations as a means of supplementing his income,” wrote Judge Larry J. Nye in his public ruling on July 7. He added, “Under these circumstances, I do not believe an award of front pay is appropriate.” Judge Nye also vacated the jury’s decision, finding in favor of the defendants—a decision which prompted the professor to appeal.
Churchill is perhaps best known for his essay comparing the September 11, 2001 victims to “little Eichmanns,” a reference to Nazi figure Adolph Eichmann. While the alleged reason for firing Churchill was his fabricated and plagiarized research, conduct “below minimum standards of professional integrity,” the jury held that the aforementioned comment influenced the decision to dismiss the professor.
In his ruling Judge Nye concluded that Churchill had demonstrated too much animosity to reinstate him at the University and that, in light of a return, Churchill’s past record of “research misconduct” could harm CU Boulder’s reputation and students graduating from the Department of Ethnic Studies.
“A random group of homeless people under a bridge would be far more intellectually sound and principled than anything I’ve encountered at the university so far,” Judge Nye quoted Churchill.

As with actual science, the social “sciences” rate a paper and its impact by seeing how many others reference that paper and use it in their own work.
Ward Churchill didn't think his scholarly work was getting the recognition it deserved; so he fabricated an identity and wrote a paper extensively citing the works of Ward Churchill.
Fake Indian. Fake disciple. Fake scholarship.
Ward Churchill is a Faux Indian who is a squaw beater.

Hard to imagine damaging the reputations of Ethnic Studies students. It’s not a major that engenders a lot of respect for academic rigor or intellectual prowess.
Federal appellate courts are cosistent that a nominal award of one dollar does no entitle a plaintiff to attorney fees.
I am not sure what I fully disagree with regarding this “human debris on parade” beliefs and actions; however, on their face, Churchill should not have been employed by University of Colorado at Boulder after the first incident. Second, he protests too much about his first amendment rights; yet it’s all about what he did!
Yeah but really I am a member of some tribe some where....
Only place this super cool moron could get a job is in a college filled with idiots kids. Looks like he’s boned as far as that goes, and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.
I would like to get a little justice for me and my sons first...

My son Andy still has trouble with his lungs since this attack three years ago.

Whoa ! I don’t remember this ! I remember the Freep, but didn’t know you were attacked by someone !
What is the result ? What happened after the attack ? Were arrests made ?

I reported it to the FBI, the woman I talked to said to get proof from my doctor, so I made an appointment to see him the next week, but during the week after he threw the chemical on us we all became sicker and sicker and by the end of the week I had to go in the Emergency Room for breathing treatment.
All week I was fighting with my husband. He then and still now does not believe we were attacked by Ward Churchill.
Seven days after the attack, I went to see my doctor for followup care to the ER. I told him everything and asked him what he thought I should do.
He encouraged me to make a police report.
So I left his office and went to the Louisville Police, they asked me where the crime had occurred and when I told them it happened in front of the Broomfield Wal Mart, they said I had to report it to the Broomfield Police.
So I drove to that police station and made my report.
The policeman who questioned me asked me what my husband thought and when I told him that he did not believe I was attacked, they pretty much blew me off.
Then they asked if I had any history of mental illness and when I told them that I had suffered a post partum psychosis after the birth of my first child sixteen years previously, they dismissed me completely.
It took me over a year to recover from the attack. I spent so much money trying to fix my lungs. I have asthma anyway, and whatever he threw at me was so toxic.
I wish there was an arrest made, still do.
For years I have struggled to know what to do about this situation, that slimeball lives less than three miles from my house and frankly I have been afraid that he would come back to hit me again if I talked about it on the internet.
But last year during the DNC in Denver, I just decided to speak about it on my blog.
It pretty much freaked me out, but lately I’ve had the attitude that I am going to speak my truth.
I was attacked by Ward Churchill as my sons and I walked out of a store in Broomfield Colorado.
Few people have believed my claim, and every time I see him in the news I just want to puke.
