Dear. Mr. X Thank you for contacting me regarding health care reform. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to take this opportunity to respond.
There are an estimated 45 million Americans without health insurance - a number that has been consistently rising since 1989. This means that one in seven Americans, and one in five under the age of 65 in Florida, is uninsured. The fact that 15 percent of Americans live without health insurance is a staggering state of affairs, especially since we live in a country that leads the world in advanced medical procedures and technology.
Recent health reform discussions have proposed the idea of creating a new government-run public health insurance plan similar to that of Medicare or Medicaid. Independent studies show that 118 million Americans could lose their current health care coverage, and 130 million Americans could end up on a government run health insurance plan if the government sets payment rates at Medicare rates. This runs counter to the Presidents promise of allowing Americans who like their health insurance to keep their current policy. I do not believe the solution to this problem can be found by expanding already overextended government programs. Instead we need to promote real competition among private plans to make them demonstrate effectiveness, and compete on quality and cost. Also, an emphasis needs to be placed on promoting wellness and financial incentives for healthy behaviors such as losing weight, and quitting smoking.
There is broad agreement on both sides of the aisle that our current health care system is in need of reform. We need to take action aimed at making the system more affordable, improving the quality of care, and expanding access to all Americans. Americans want a health care system that supports innovation, puts patients and doctors at the center of health care decisions, and allows patients to choose the healthcare plan that best suits their needs.

Principles 1, Getting candidates to run for office based on their ethnicity 0.
Martinez is retiring, he doesn’t care about pressure.
He’s a scumbag.
Martinez supported amnesty and wants to insure the 12 to 20 million illegals with USG subsidies.
"No health rationing for us. Ever. Or our families ever.
Or our whores or secretaries. Ever.
Death to our stupid constituents and America."
JACKA&& MEL a go along get along RINO!
I think in this next bill we should put something in
about each congressman, and senator shall out of his own
personal funds carry the heath care costs of TWO regular citizens besides himself, each congressman and senator WILL
receive the SAME exact health care as a common citizen.
Didn't Clinton use this same number in 1994 or so?
The only ‘reform’ needed in American health care is to get the government out of the business, all together.
Let the market determine its own equilibrium. Every other market the government has been into has gone down the porcelain convenience.
It’s time to take back the country.
Mel “believes” whatever is most expedient at the moment. He cannot be trusted!
Sounds like he’s against the public plan.
I don’t see him advocating rationing at all.
Exactly. Some people around here are so damn cynical. I’m no fan of Mel Martinez by any means, but he isn’t on board with Obamacare.
I emailed the RINO and my sister sent him the letter below.
All of us need to contact our Congresscritters and voice our objections to health care "reform".
Dear Senator Martinez,
Make no mistake about it. There are many, many of your constituents who are totally opposed to Obamas proposed national health care plan. It is irrational, unreasonable, the antithesis of quality health care and would create substandard medical care for EVERY American.
I am but one of many who are adamantly opposed to any version of a national health care plan.
I ask you to consider WHY it is that people fly to the USA from all over the world to take advantage of our quality medical care. We have an outstanding medical system. It will be but a dim memory if anything remotely resembling Obamas plan is passed.
Please, please, please oppose this and any national health care plan. There is a popular sentiment making the rounds: If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it is free. Amusing, but profoundly accurate. Not one of us can afford free health care.
My entire family and all my friends are adamantly opposed. We all live in Florida. You are our senator.
Please remember your pledge to represent the will of the people you represent.
Yes its been 45 mil since 1993.
subtract the illegals, and unemployed who refuse to pay for cobra and thats leaves 0.
I really hate our government officials now, all of them. I thank God every single day that we saved enough and made good investments so that we can get out of here and live elsewhere. I never thought I would leave this country that I love so much, but time to face it, things change. I feel happiest when I think of making a permanent move where I don’t have to put up with all of this stress, anger and BS every single day of my life.
Mel won’t support rationing for him or his, unless ... do you think there will be a special program of exemptions for the elites?
