So, Republicans, you're looking for people who can serve as faces of a party on the upswing. What qualities would we want to see in such people?
Maybe these:
* They've served in public office and have actually governed effectively.
* Rather than just talking about fiscal responsibility, they've made it happen under their watch.
* When possible, they've made sure the private sector would take the lead in crucial initiatives.
* They've taken on corrupt, entrenched interests to make government more responsive to the people it serves, even when those interests were fellow Republicans.
* They pull no punches in criticizing Democrats, but they do so with a positive outlook and a pleasant demeanor.
* They're not intimidated by the inevitable crap they will catch from the media, celebrities and whomever else.
* They have an enthusiastic following upon which to build.
* Finally, if you've got all of the above, it can't hurt if you also look fantastic.
Republicans, would you like people with some or most of these qualities to be the faces of a resurgent political party? Damn right you would. Guess what. There's one person who possesses all eight.
Sarah Palin.

Check out Kathleen Parker’s column this morning on Sarah Palin. The “inside-the-beltway “conservatives” are not letting up on their distain for Gov. Palin.
Do you got the link? She needs another good FR spanking...
Maybe someone else on here can provide it. I’m illiterate when it comes to that... sorry...
Yep, you’ve listed the reasons the left and the RINOs are trying to destroy her.
The mere mention of her name gets their undies in such a wad that I would recommend making her the prime candidate for us conservatives right now and shove her down their throats for the next three years!
I feel better already!
I really believe that Sarah Palin has struck a nerve in America from June 3 (her speech in Anchorage to introduce Michael Reagan) to June 12 (her interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN) and looking back may have been a turning point in the political fortunes of Sarah Palin in national politics, notwithstanding the Letterman episode.
During these 10 days Sarah Palin has staked out political positions directly at odds with Obama, in using the phrase ‘we told you so’ second-guessing the direction Obama is taking the country, managed to attract 20000+ people to see her in Auburn NY at the Seward celebrations, remain the focus of attention at a GOP fundraiser where she did not even speak and finally give perhaps her best interview ever to a MSM outlet to Matt Lauer on Friday morning.
The meme from the Obama war room has been sent out. We made a mistake with Letterman. We’ll go ‘back to the future’ and stay with the traditional narrative, having Lefty and RINO columnists continually slam and smear Sarah Palin as dumb, backward and incompetent to marginalize her from independents and moderates.
If one thing stands out now it is I believe my contention that nobody (from the Left or Right) will be ever able to marginalize Sarah Palin from her conservative base: first she is pro-life (Evansville speech), next was her support for Carrie Prejean and her right to free speech, then was an affirmation of her NRA credentials (special gun made in her honor) and now is the re-awakening of the culture wars by way of the contretemps of David Letterman.
So what Obama, the nutroots and the MSM is left with is keeping Sarah Palin away from stealing their supporters ‘in the middle’. Over the next 3 and 1/2 years I predict it will be a fight to the finish.
