Geoffrey Dunn, in an unhinged huff piece at HuffPo, has charged Gov. Palin with plagiarism. In a dubious diary titled "Palin Plagiarizes Gingrich in Anchorage Speech," Dunn declares, "It's a pure case of unadulterated plagiarism": Palin acknowledged that "Recently, Newt Gingrich, he had written a good article about Reagan...." (Recently? It was four years ago; and she said "good," with an obvious disdain, since Gingrich has been rather dismissive of her recently.)
2. Palin: He said, regarding your dad Michael, he said that we need to learn from his example that courage and persistence are keys to historic achievement.
Gingrich/Shirley: Courage and persistence are the keys to historic achievement. Merriam-Webster defines plagiarize as: "...to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (another's production) without crediting the source..." But Gov. Palin acknowledged both Newt Gingrigh and the article the former House Speaker wrote, as Dunn admits twice. How can paraphrasing be considered plagiarizing when both the author and the source are cited?
It cannot. So Gov. Palin clearly did not plagiarize Newt Gingrich. That's not plagiarizing.
Outrageous! I hear that Sarah Palin often ‘borrows’ terms that other people have used, like “What time is it,” and “I’m hungry.” Is there no limit to that woman perfidy?
Pray for America
HuffPo emits so much methane gas that the EPA should consider shutting it down.
But wait a minute. I thought Palin was a has-been according to the Left? The 20,000 people who saw her were obviously spammers.
The maniac, Democrat Socialist left, will continue to level false charges against Governor Palin.
Then when she runs for President, repeat the “fact” that all these charges were leveled against her - without mentioning the fact they were all bogus and politically motivated.
I don’t know what the stupidest part about this is, when he claims that quoting historical figures is “stealing” from other people who have quoted that figure or the part where he claims by saying “Newt says” while talking about an article he wrote qualifies as “stealing”.
I guess this speech really did drive them nuts.
So true, but at least we know Gov. Palin didn’t steal makeup or clothing style tricks from liberals...since they tend to shun such frivolous things.
good one, good one!!!!!!!!
Thanks! I always have my eye on the important factors of the situation!
Wasn’t this jackass at HuffPo plagiarizing Palin in reporting on what she said—??
Paraphrasing with attribution is not, by any definition of the word, plagiarism.
Look at how desperate Palin makes them. They become rather feverish and rabid in their lies, trying to destroy her.
What’s really, REALLY bothering him is that she drew a crowd of 20,000 admirers, even after all the smear jobs they’ve tried to stick on her.
She scares them to death.
GO SARAH!
What they are trying to do is to make Sarah appear to be of the same ‘buffoon level’ as Joe Biden. With Joe, it doesn’t matter-everyone knows he is an idiot, but with Sarah Palin, these folks know she isn’t but are under orders from the Messiah to make her out to be in any way or shape possible.
Lughing, yeah you do!!!
