Its silliness. South Korea has twice the population (48 million vs 23 million) of the North, thirty times its economic power (40 billion GDP vs 1.342 Trillion GDP), and spends three times more on its military each year. South Korean military equipment is first class whereas most of the North Korean military equipment is over 30 years old and much is inoperable due to a lack of maintenance. If war broke out, South Korea has a *massive* industrial capacity and $94 billion in foreign currency reserves to sustain a war, while North Korea has no industry and no money. As a result, South Korea is roughly five times more powerful than North Korea.
Currently, and for more than a decade, the North literally cannot feed itself. It is a runt nation both figuratively and literally. (due to malnutrition)
Much of the true difficulty we encountered in the Korean war was our direct combat with Russians flying MiGs, and unlimited numbers of well-armed and well-supplied Chinese soldiers. Niether will be true next time.
Its all for show. And their “nukes” are only to make it impossible to invade them and for blackmail purposes.
If they get TOO good at that game, just imagine the kind of Nuclear weapons Sony or Toshiba could build for Japan.
There will be no Korean war redux. This is all a game designed to milk a very weak and naive US President for cash, thats all.
# BULLETIN -- NORTH KOREA FORCES SURRENDER FOLLOWING THE DELIVERY OF THE DREADED "STRONGLY WORDED LETTER" FROM PRESidENT OBAMA.
# BULLETIN -- PRESidENT OBAMA PROUDLY ANNOUNCES "PEACE IN OUR TIME" BEARING A TREATY SIGNED BY NORTH KOREAN LEADERSHIP....
BarryO, it is time to unloose the hounds of war . . . send ACORN!
And for that we risk 30,000 of America's finest.
We should have left the peninsula to the Koreans to sort out when the South Koreans endorsed their "sunshine "policy.
Technically, the Korean War did not end, because a peace treaty was never agreed - only a cease-fire, which occasionally has been broken such as in the killing of U.S. Army Captain Arthur G. Bonifas by North Korean troops at the DMZ checkpoint in 1976.
Question: Say Jong-Il went nuts (oh, right) and decided to nuke SKorea. What would Barry do about it?
Blame President Bush. Then head to the UN. And then apologize for America. And then blame President Bush.”
And promise to rid America of its nuclear weapons under international observation...as an example to the rest of the world...
Chia’s saber rattling is playing right into Barry’s pledge to disarm the USA
Did you notice that whoever photoshops these pictures always had Barry’s head just a little too large and the shadows are in the wrong place?
