But the problem is far worse for the marine industry. Even 10% ethanol is causing severe problems to fuel systems. It primarily shows up in fuel lines of older boats where the inner liner is destroyed by the corrosive action of the ethanol, causing it to flake away and clog the fuel system...
I just watched '
Idiocracy'. The movie explores the possibility that people are becoming dumber with each succeeding generation. In 500 years, people will water their crops with Gatorade and wonder why they have crop failures in much the same way that we put ethanol in cars today. Yes, it's set 500 years in the future and yet it still hits just a little too close to home.
