has taken casual to a haute new level.

While volunteering Wednesday at a D.C. food bank, the First Lady sported her usual J.Crew cardigan, a pair of utilitarian capri pants and, on her feet, a sneaky splurge: trainers that go for $540.

That's right: These sneakers - suede, with grosgrain ribbon laces and metallic pink toe caps - are made by French design house Lanvin, one of fashion's hottest labels. They come in denim and satin versions, and have been a brisk seller all spring.

Good catch from the election....hypocrisy! I think she was probably just trying to connect with African American voters from the ‘hood, where it is common to spend that much on one’s sneakers as a status symbol. Fox 32 news is doing a story on this shortly. I’ll have to see what crappola excuses they come up with....

RUSH: A Supreme Court justice can wear $540 tennis shoes like Michelle Obama wore at a feed the poor thing the other day.  Yeah, this apparent Lanvin, is that the French -- Dawn, you would know.  How do you pronounce the French fashion house, L-a-n-v-i-n, Lanvin?  Anyway, she wears some tennis shoes that cost, apparently, according to the New York Daily News, $540 a pair, while she's out there feeding the poor.  They asked her office about it, "Come on," they said, they snorted, "It's just shoes."  Just shoes.  You could buy a pair of Keds that look about the same for $35 bucks.  They don't quite look the same, but they're close to looking the same.  Thirty-five dollars, champion canvas blue multi-Keds. They're purple and they're light blue and they're yellow.  You could pick your colors, and $35 bucks a pair, as opposed to $540.  But remember, now, she's beloved and it's just shoes.  It's just shoes, they say.

Yep, Sarah made all the lib news with her clothing, which by the way, was tasteful and looked GREAT on her. She looked gorgeous in everything, and I think there was a jealousy factor involved with the terrible treatment she received.

Michelle has hideous taste in clothing, and the shoes are an example of that. Additionally, such blatant and wasteful spending is selfish and thoughtless in light of the example she should be setting.

She has lost touch with the common man (or woman as the case may be). She lost touch a very long time ago, and has truly forgotten that the average person can't identify with $500 shoes.
