Competing for Tea Party Attention
Political Castaway ^ | 4/8/2009 | Selkirk

Michelle Malkin is reporting that the left is mobilizing to get out in front of the Tea Party movement by organizing their own counter-demonstrations on April 11. Sounds like a gas - a counter demonstration of a demonstration that won't happen for a few days.

That said, there are a few reasons to be concerned:

1. Media. Demonstrations are effective only to the extent that they get media attention.

We are welcoming everyone to our protest. We are against the power grab in Sacramento and DC and we are not affiliated with any political party. The GOP isn't as bad as the Democrats...but barely. Our theme is Power to the People.

And the left is much better at demonstrations because they have a bunch of low life scum who don’t have families or have to work that live off us at their disposal anytime. Leftists know if they keep doling out the free stuff these guys are going to multiply. Why work when all you have to do is lay around and wait for the call to the next demonstration/rally. Slugs of society.

The ‘movement’ is growing exponentially despite the lack of media coverage.

Real Americans are POed and will not be satiated with a mere bone. We want real meat and we won’t stop until we get it.

We are Taxed Enough Already.

Well, if the leftist ACORN thugs come out, then the media will e there. Otherwise the media would have ignored us. This is getting to the boiling point rather quickly it seems.

2.  Experience.  Let's face it.  Demonstrations aren't really our thing.  We work for a living.  Demonstrations are usually filled with more of the reactionary element than the thoughtful element, so we're kind of treading in uncharted waters here.  I just hope we don't end up looking silly.

Actually, I'm kind of worried about this, I'm afraid we're going to look silly because we have no idea how to protest.

What are we going to do? All of our signs are going to be spelled correctly. We know who is responsible for 9/11 and we don't believe in Global Warming so what kind of fringe groups will we have?

If they try to disperse us and we start yelling "Hell No we won't go!" and then suddenly leave at 7 pm because it's Wednesday night and we all have to go to church isn't really going to intimidate anyone.

If anybody tries to riot it will never work out, what are we going to do, storm a Wal-Mart and then pay for everything we loot? Besides, there isn't a conservative in this country that will "loot" a big screen TV without buying the extended warranty for it.

No offense.

None taken. I was just exploiting the opportunity to show off my protesting skills. I am way more bad-ass than the average Republican. I'm more of a Libertarian...if you get my drift.

I do believe I got the vapors! Did hell freeze and I missed it. Congratulations. We’re having one in Metairie, LA right outside New Orleans April 15.

One thing I have noticed is that the amount of mis-spelled signs at Tea Party Rallies is a lot lower than Acorn protests.

Hardly a bastion of conservative thinking. Yay for us! We are deep behind enemy lines. Way better than preaching to the choir.

Be careful; he who exalts himself shall be humbled...although I generally agree with what you are saying. I just know that I better not think I'm too clever or I'll be taught a lesson.

Au contraire, Metairie is VERY red but NO is quite blue so we do have our possible battles. But, you are right, you are deep behind enemy lines. Let us know how it turns out for you. I’m sorry, preaching to the choir makes me feel warm and fuzzy I must confess.
