Barack Obama: He Really Does Go On A Bit.
The Telegraph ^ | 05 April 2009 | Iain Martin

Posted on 04/06/2009 11:19:57 AM PDT by Montana_Gal

Isn't it time for him to go home yet? It is good, in theory, that the new President of the United States is taking so much time to tour Europe. But his long stay means that we are hearing rather a lot from him, way too much in fact. His long speeches are under-delivered...leaving a faintly empty sensation in this listener...Yet, we are told that he is a great orator...am I alone in finding him increasingly to be something of a bore? ...most of the serious answers that I listened to were interminable, windy and not very impressive. At points there were pauses so long that it appeared he had simply lost his train of thought. Today, we were treated to another set-piece Obama speech, and my didn't he go on a bit?... Is there a computer which churns this stuff out for him? "For over a thousand years, Prague has set itself apart from any other city in any other place. You have known war and peace. You have seen empires rise and fall. You have led revolutions in the arts and science, in politics and poetry. Through it all, the people of Prague have insisted on pursuing their own path,...And this city - this Golden City which is both ancient and youthful - stands as a living monument to your unconquerable spirit." Empires rising and falling, destinies being defined and a Golden City standing as a monument to unconquerable spirit... goodness, what a ham... But Obama was only warming up. "When I was born," (Everything usually leads back to him, you'll notice)... The Obamas have handled their trip well and in their public appearances have been a credit to their country. But I'll wager that within a year or so he'll be marked down as a wind-bag.

Is there a computer which churns this stuff out for him?

“Just words...just speeches?”

Mr. Obama trying to justify himself on the presidential hustings.

He is a windbag...and the world is discovering this fact.

Mr. Obama believes that speaking is action(words speak louder than action).

>>> “When I was born,” (Everything usually leads back to him, you’ll notice)...

LOL

>>> The Obamas have handled their trip well and in their public appearances have been a credit to their country.

If he’s referring to Kenya, then yes. I’m still really pissed off about his bowing incident.

>> But I’ll wager that within a year or so he’ll be marked down as a wind-bag.
I give him 1 more month before the majority catches on.

He tries to give a few technical terms in his wordy answers to appear informed. Problem is....most people are zoned out or asleep by the second sentence.

Yeah, welcome to our world. You wanted him. Those of us who cautioned, give the guy time (certainly more than a few months in the Senate), but NO..O...O. Now, you've got him and a wife who appears to be more interested in loopy fashions and more quick changes than a star off-Broadway. Great. Just freakin’ great.

Steyn, subbing for Rush, got it spot on today.

As long as you fawn over him and treat him like a rock-star, he feels he has accomplished his goal - to get you to like HIM (and only him!).

Iain, old man. It seems that most of Europe wanted Babmi. Well, we got Bambi. We tried to tell you, but alas, our information fell on deaf ears.

If you think he’s a bore, you ought to hear what many of think.

If paying attention, anyone would have marked him down as a "wind-bag" 3 years ago, old chap.

Re: lormand’s pic: ROFLMAO!

That bowing debacle has really ruffled feathers. I think zerO should shanghai yet more TV facetime, but this time to explain his actions to us.

It’ll be just “more words”, I’m sure, but he owes an explanation.

“Is there a computer which churns this stuff out for him?”

They haven’t noticed the two teleprompters that accompany him at every speech? Ronald Reagan had no teleprompter when he delivered his epic Normandy speech or the “Tear down this wall!” speech in East Germany. He was a real orator, as opposed to this pompous windbag who needs others to manufacture every sentence of every speech he gives.

An older term for “fart”, both in this country and in Britain, is the word “wind”.

Thus “windy” and “windbag” take on, well, different meanings. Ones that I agree with entirely.
