"Wreaks", as in to spread, broadcast. Not "reeks" as in stinks (but the case could be argued).

That is one of my pet peeves. Mind you I never say anything, but so many people make that mistake. Also, they say a point is mute. Funny, but not the right word (moot).

Funny you bring that up. I tried to verify that before I wrote it by “Googling” the phrase - before publishing it. Usually when I use that method, Google will have a link that reads “Did you mean wreaks?”.

My intuition told me it was wrong but the corrective link didn’t come up this time to my chagrin and many sources came up that used “reeks” in the same context.

I guess I’ll have to go back to dictionary.com to placate the anal retentive.
