The Obamunist Manifesto Reeks Havoc - Just as Intended by MrArbitrage

Obama released the 2010 Budget which he titled "A New Era of Responsibility”. It should be called “The Obamunist Manifesto”. Thank Hussein for the deliberate destruction of our economy.

Throughout my Wall Street career I believed the rules about the market, how it is always the best place to be long term, how it always "comes back"… the general rule that the best time to buy is usually when everyone is selling. These were like laws of nature upon which we could depend based on almost two hundred years of American investment history.

The problem now is that the market is...

The Obamunist Manifesto

I thought it was called "Obama's Struggle"?

"Wreaks", as in to spread, broadcast. Not "reeks" as in stinks (but the case could be argued).

That is one of my pet peeves. Mind you I never say anything, but so many people make that mistake. Also, they say a point is mute. Funny, but not the right word (moot).

The other often heard is “wreck havoc” which is a nonsense.

LOL so much nonsense, so little time! (I don’t generally bring these errors to people’s attention since I make plenty of my own, and they’re probably someone’s pet peeve!

Another one I've seen a lot lately:

"marshal law"

The moderator of a gun-related forum I visit has that as his handle. Most fitting, IMO.

That one's actually closer. The writer knows the word has a "w" in it, at least.

Funny you bring that up. I tried to verify that before I wrote it by “Googling” the phrase - before publishing it. Usually when I use that method, Google will have a link that reads “Did you mean wreaks?”.

My intuition told me it was wrong but the corrective link didn’t come up this time to my chagrin and many sources came up that used “reeks” in the same context.

I guess I’ll have to go back to dictionary.com to placate the anal retentive.

I think it’s such a common mistake that you would easily pull it up if you googled. It’s not a big deal, in the big scheme of things, and probably one day it will be considered a normal phrase and someone will wonder where it came from! ;)

I knew I would pull up many examples on Google even if it is incorrect. Nevertheless, Google usually corrects you if it is wrong by placing a link on which yu can click indicating “Did you mean Wreaks?”.

I changed it on the blog. I can’t believe I am going on and on about this. I’ll bet these people freak out if/when they read some of our founders like Franklin.

Spelling is not always a concomitant of intellect.

LOL which is why I usually don’t say anything. Anyone who doesn’t get the meaning doesn’t want to. ;)

Indeed, like the destruction of western civilzation.
