The Convention

I had never been involved with the Republican Party until this last election. I went to my local Presque Isle County Republican Party and was selected as a delegate to the convention. I was a little unsure of how I was going to get to the capitol because my car needed tires and has too many miles on it and was not going to make it all the way to Lansing, but luckily, there was a lady in the Upper Peninsula named Doreen who was organizing a bus for the delegates to take and she offered a ride for myself and my son. She even notified me that since there were so many sponsors of the bus, not only would there be no fee, but there would be a lunch provided. Cool.

The bus picked us up near Cheboygan along with 5 attendees from Cheboygan County. I hadn’t been on a bus since going to school, and I always instinctively went to the back. That way, you are the farthest from the driver, and you can whoop it up a bit. I had every intention though, of reading my book and being good and quiet. However, it is very difficult for a person to be something she is not.

I sat across from Janell and Mary, met Ethan, Travis and Gregg, Craig, Captain Kirk, and Professor Frank. Dey were all yoopers and here I wuz, a troll.

They might make you a sub-honorary Yooper if you keep flattering the UP in your missives. I mean - Rogers City - you’re close enough... :-)

Since you mentioned Rogers City, did you know there is a Clean-coal power plant proposed there, waiting on the state to give the permit while the Sierra Club petitions Jennifer Granholm to kill it? Ahhh, the battles of a small town.
