If you want to push through the Democrat Party’s social agenda during a time of economic crisis, you attach it to a so-called “stimulus” package, and voila, you have what conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer calls an “abomination.”
David Patten reporting in Newsmax.com on February 14th states that the “gargantuan” bill will actually cost closer to $3.27 trillion, including interest and increased spending many expanded Democrat programs (read pork) will create in the next decade. Here’s some of the pork: Three billion dollars in “neighborhood stabilization;” One point three billion dollars to bail out AMTRAK; that’s throwing bad money after bad: That railroad has always been, and will always be, a loser; One billion dollars for educational programs, including, you guessed it, courses on sex. This time on sexually transmitted diseases and how to avoid them. Don’t bet on abstinence being among the recommendations. And this one’s a goodie: Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco Bay district will get $30 million (in fairness, a pittance for these big spenders) to restore wetlands and protect the salt marsh harvest mouse. But this worst part of this outrageous spending spree, the largest since World War II, is the rhetoric, bordering on hysteria, we have been hearing from our elected officials. The new President, has, according to the Wall Street Journal (2/13/09), “turned fear mongering into an art form.” Case in point: Obama constantly calls our current fiscal situation the worst since the Great Depression. Ain’t so.

Welcome back to the fold, Kraut. I have had all the respect in the world for Charles over the years, but his behavior in relation to Palin last fall did no one any favors. He is right on a lot of issues, but he is still a Washington elitist who looks down upon those w/o an ivy league degree. If he would have spent more time in the fall bashing Obama and less time on Palin, we might not be here today.
Where is the trick ? They have an unstoppable majority in govt. They have the media on their side - the same media that brought them the majority by fooling a bunch of willing idiots, and they are using the same media to fool them some more.
America is going to pay a price that many could not even comprehend. From the loss of freedoms, a destroyed economic system, a destroyed medical system, a weakened military and defense posture, bowing to our enemies, and a growing draconian attitude toward the individual and his/her freedoms.
The electorate has made an unmeasurable disasterous mistake.

Since we all learned this weekend that the “experts” say we are all going to die from “climate change” in the next five years, I’ve got to question whether or not this Porkulus Maximus bill was even necessary.
