Obama Wrote The Book: "Steal This Country"

I was given the link to the following story by one of my readers (HL) in a comment. It was written by William Jacobson, Associate Clinical Professor of Law at Cornell Law School. Warning: the point packs a wallop:

"Steal This Country"

As an early teen, I was fascinated with Abbie Hoffman's "Steal This Book." The book, by the 60's radical Yippie, was a guide to using the capitalist system to destroy the capitalist system. Hoffman gave advice on how to cheat various institutions, such as the post office (e.g., mail an envelope to yourself without a stamp, with the return address of the person you want it to go to, and the post office will send it "back" to the returnee for free) all with the goal of disrupting civil society. For someone growing up in a nice suburb, this was mind-blowing stuff.

The introduction to Steal This Book lays out the philosophy of how to destroy the system from within by attacking those who benefit from capitalism (the "rich") to give to all others by creating chaos:

Steal This Book is, in a way, a manual of survival in the prison that is Amerika. It preaches jailbreak. It shows you where exactly how to place the dynamite that will destroy the walls. The first section-SURVIVE!-lays out a potential action program for our new Nation. The chapter headings spell out the demands for a free society. A community where the technology produces goods and services for whoever needs them, come who may. It calls on the Robin Hoods of Santa Barbara Forest to steal from the robber barons who own the castles of capitalism. It implies that the reader already is "ideologically set," in that he understands corporate feudalism as the only robbery worthy of being called "crime," for it is committed against the people as a whole. Whether the ways it describes to rip-off shit are legal or illegal is irrelevant. The dictionary of law is written by the bosses of order. Our moral dictionary says no heisting from each other. To steal from a brother or sister is evil. To not steal from the institutions that are the pillars of the Pig Empire is equally immoral. Community within our Nation, chaos in theirs; that is the message of SURVIVE!

Call me paranoid, delusional, correct, prophetic, whatever, but I'm beginning to feel that someone at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has read Steal This Book.

There seems to be a deliberateness to the chaos, a purpose to the ever-increasing exclamation points, as in crisis (!), catastrophe (!!), act now or else (!!!), ... we're on the verge of (!!!!). An attempt to keep so many parts moving so quickly that by the time we realize what has happened, we will have an economic and political system based on punishing achievement in the name of fairness, redistributing goods and services in the name of equality, and above all, dependence on a government which controls everything by endlessly proclaiming that only it has good intentions.

I'll leave it to others to detail the deviousness of the "stimulus" plans being offered up, which hide fundamental changes to the health care system in their hundreds of pages, as well as the executive orders and other actions to alter the landscape while you were caught up worrying about "stimulus."

For now, I'll just go on record that I'm not buying what this administration is selling, because I've already read the book.

My response to HL - and now to you - was this:

You go back to Obama’s life, and he was profoundly shaped by people just like Hoffman. He was shaped by Frank Marshall Davis, and by Saul Alinsky, and others. This is a man who is far more comfortable with leftist radicals than he is with ordinary Americans. He shares their goals, not ours.

Obama summed it up well in Dreams of My Father pp 100-101:

“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully.The more politically active black students. The foreign students.The Chicanos. The Marxist Professors and the structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets. We smoked cigarettes and wore leather jackets. At night,in the dorms, we discussed neocolonialism, Franz Fanon, Eurocentrism, and patriarchy. When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet or set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake,we were resisting bourgeois society’s stifling constraints. We weren’t indifferent or careless or insecure. We were alienated.”

Obama has no real interest in expanding or improving our capitalist system, and only fools and the pathologically naive believe he does. No, his goal is to impose a socialist agenda, just like all those people he used to hang with would want him to do. He’s not a “sellout.” Throughout his life, he's always been quite loyal to radicals, Marxists, hard-core feminists, and socialists.

And what Obama did, just like the thesis of Hoffman's Steal This Book, was to present himself as a mainstream candidate in order to destroy mainstream America.

And now that we have fallen for his pseudo-capitalism for the sake of destroying capitalism pretense, Obama and his fellow leftists are going to Steal This Country.

This Theft of our country is happening on many levels. Here are just a few:

- Rampant Government-assisted "legalized" illegal immigration.

- The Generational Theft Act, marketed to us as a "stimulus" package.

- The under-the-radar insertion of a massive takeover of health care and the imposition of a government bureaucracy that will make life and death decisions for Americans based on the needs of the government.

First president not to attend The Inaugural Medal of Honor Ball
Many exectutive orders the first week in office. Including
* -allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States.
* - Scrapping the Mexico City Policy that protected taxpayers from involvement in overseas abortions for eight years. Obama will send hundreds of millions of dollars to groups that aggressively promote abortions on a worldwide scale.
Obama issued Executive Order "Use of Project Labor Agreements for Federal Construction Projects", revoking Bush Executive Orders 13202 and 13208. The new order encourages federal executives to require government contractors and subcontractors to use union-organized labor.
Obama issues Executive Order "Amendments to Executive Order 13199 Establishment of the President's Advisory Council for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.". Neighborhood partnerships" have equal footing with faith-based ones. The local Planned Parenthood or ACORN center will be treated like a house of God, in the eyes of the federal government.

We suffered a perfect storm:
- an unpopular President who had been broken by war and an unrelenting liberal campaign to bring him down.

- a mainstream media that embraced political activism and propaganda as “new journalism.”

- The collapse of the economy on September 18 (and now we’re learning that it may have been orchestrated with a $550 billion raid on the banks) timed to perfection to change the election.

People acted in fear and ignorance, and voted for a prevaricating fraud.

We’ll deserve everything that happens to us as a country because of this election, but it is truly sad to watch your country essentially vote to cripple itself.

Right before the election, for no other reason than sheer boredom, and being laid up sick at the time, I ended up watching a History Channel documentary called “The Hippies”.

When they got to the part about the “Yippies” they distinctly described Abbie Hoffman as a “Community Organizer”. I about killed myself throwing a shoe at the TV over that. I don't remember that appellation being hung on Hoffman back in those days, so it seemed a bit “revisionist” to me.

I tried for two days to get a ring tone on Rush or Hannity, just to tell them about the irony of it, but no such luck. I finally e-mailed them, but got no response. Oh well.
