Josef Mengele: Devil of Auschwitz

Recently, a doctor in the border region of Paraguay and Brazil documented a large and unusual number of twins in the region. The number was unusual enough, but the traits were odder still; all had blond hair and blue eyes. Conceived in the early ’60s, it fits a time line of Josef Mengele’s probable location in South America at the time.

A town with a twins birth rate of 1 in 5. He succeeded in the technique, didn’t he.

What is confusing is- why is this STILL happening today? presumably Mengele is long gone or certainly too old to be practicing experiments

Did someone else pick up his work? And what was his work other than twinning? Whose DNA is being propagated?
And how about DNA testing of these people to determine who they came from?

And why would the locals cooperate with this?

Maybe one set of twins is the new Hitler! Two for the price of one.

Twinning is heritable. One branch of my maternal line is prone to twins, and has been going back to the 18th century. Provided that the population is relatively isolated from intermarriage or impregnation from outside, the trait will continue. Call it a genetic bottleneck, or “founder effects,” either way.

If these twins were squat, dark haired, bug eyed, farting little megalomaniacs, maybe. They’re blond haired and blue eyed, though. Hitler’s misbegotten, self-hating ideal, yes, but certainly not Hitler himself.

he wrote how race can be defined by the jaw structure of a human skull.

interesting way and maybe better than most of defining race. When I was in college nematodes were identified by cutting off their rear ends, smashing on a slide to identify by patterns. This might be a good way to ID race for humans also.........................

When I was a teenager (1960s) my family drove from Asuncion Paraguay to the Iguazu Falls on the border of Brazil. Along the way we encountered two small towns in which practically everyone was blonde, nordic looking, and spoke fluent German. These were simply descendants of Germans who had migrated en-masse to the region. Don’t know if it had anything to do with the war, but it certainly had absolutely nothing to do with Mengele. DNA alteration would have been completely out of the reach of Mengele, even in the 60’s, and it is the only way you could create twins artificially.

We lived in Buenos Aires for several years in the 80s. The neighbors across the street were of German descent. They were both born in Argentina, but in the early 30s. their families shipped them off to Germany just as Hitler was coming to power. They survived and returned to Argentina after the war. Their English and Spanish had a heavy German accent, and most of their leisure time was spent in one of the many German clubs in the area. It came out during some of the barbecues we shared with them that were unreconstructed Nazis, hated Jews and longed for a Fourth Reich; I'm sure most of the other members of their clubs shared their views.

We flew up to Iguazu Falls several times during our time there. Magnificent, breath-taking scenery.

As Hitler wasn’t a true blond and blue eyes Arian, maybe these kids are not his devilish offspring. Still, its a bit chilling.

“It came out during some of the barbecues we shared with them that were unreconstructed Nazis”

I had to read that line several times because my mild dyslexia kept telling me you were admitting to being a Nazi.

Having grown up in Argentina I can attest that I would hang out even with Nazis if there was an asado being offered.

Believe me, I did NOT share their Nazi sympathies. And thanks for reminding me of the word "asado." I couldn't for the life of me remember that.

We used to go to the Marine House on Congreso for big asados. The Argies that did the cooking used old inner-sprint mattresses for their grills. Argie beef is the best in the world. I'd KILL for a bife de chorizo medium rare with a good bottle of vino Mendocino and some papas pae (sp) at the Rio Alba restaurant just around the corner from the embassy in Palermo.

You can get that now in BA for about 3 dollars.

When we left in 1989, we paid about $5 for that. The poor Argies were taking it in the shorts and we were livin’ large.
