America has an ever-growing belief that "Christmas" should be taken out of...well, Christmas! We are inundated with stories about the "indignity" visited upon others by simply wising them a "Merry Christmas." At what point does this censorship of the season's greeting cross the line from mere annoyance to utter madness? Read today's "Geeks On Caffeine" and find out for yourself! NOTE: The author of this comic requests that you visit his web site and please refrain from copying it within this thread. Thank you very much!
Happy Solstice! Got your tree up?
I’m not Druish. (That’s what Druids are called right?)
Hung it upside down from the ceiling as all good pagans do. ;)
Christmas, in our day and time, has taken Christ out of the holiday. It is now a winter holiday, a break for students and teachers, not a hesitation in our lives to celebrate the birth of Christ.
Plain and simple, PC is speech control. They pointed to the use of "little people" in the title "Snow White and the Seven Little People". Freedom of speech is destroyed if some arrogant SOB decides what you can and cannot say!
New Speak in 1984 is thriving in our PC society.
I believed that the "N" world had been put to rest in Blazing Saddles but...
I gave a speech where I referred to the Mitochondrial DNA studies that used scientific techniques to determine that we all shared a common grandmother named EVE who lived in the horn of Africa about 100,000 years ago. If we are all descended form this "Grams" then we're all African whatevers and the only race is Santa Anita, the Kentuck Derby and Human Race!
I had the football games on last weekend with about 4,000 mentions of the word “holiday” being featured, with all wanting me to buy something in the name of a day they won’t mention. How cynical is that?
Then there’s talk radio, and even Hannity saying the “h” word over and over. I turned it off to keep my sanity.
I think “Happy Holidays” is going out of style. I have heard 100 percent increase in Merry Christmas this year. People like fads and “Happy Holidays” was just that...a fad.
