Good story. And the lady makes an important observation, that the child conceived in rape is as innocent as the victim.
God bless this woman for making the honorable and morally correct decision.
In NO OTHER CRIME do we punish a child for a parent’s wrongdoing.
Or, as my sister-in-law said to me recently, “You can’t give AIDS back, or any other sexually transmitted disease. Some of them are curable, but not all. You make a mistake one night and you’re lumped with it. Why should a baby be different. Maybe you should be glad you have a baby rather than AIDS or any other sexually transmitted disease.”
Too true.
I know someone who put the baby that was conceived up for adoption. It was obvious she loved the little boy she had by her reaction when she got pictures of him from his adoptive family. She now has two other children with her husband and they have adopted two others.
If you go by nature, such a child is 50 percent the mother’s genetics. If you go by nurture, such a child is 100 percent the mother’s upbringing. Pam obviously “got” that.
Rape is the only crime in which we allow the execution of the most innocent victim but not the perpetrator.
