The U.S. Vice President is, it seems, a part of the Legislative Branch and not the Executive Branch of the United States government. A vote on Nov. 4 for John McCain as Commander in Chief of our military is a concomitant vote for Sarah Palin as President of the Senate. Let us imagine and grasp this opportunity.
Article I of the Constitution describes the powers and prerogatives of the legislature, House of Representatives and Senate, and Article III contains the only reference in the Constitution to the Vice President's powers and prerogatives.
Article III states: "The vice president of the United States shall be President of the Senate but, shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided.
The Senate shall chuse [sic] their other officers and also a President pro tempore, in the Absence [sic] of the Vice President or when he [sic] shall exercise the Office of President of the United States."
Presidents preside. President: a position of authority. Preside: to guide, direct, control. As President of the Senate, Mrs. Palin will preside over the Senate. The President of the Senate is not a potted plant.
IMAGINE.
Mrs. Palin, elected governor of Alaska, and formerly elected Mayor of Wasilla, the chief executive of Wasilla, an Anchorage suburb of 7,000, is clearly qualified for the role of governor of the Senate of 100. She has demonstrated competence and capability while governing the largest state in the union geographically, an energy state of 650,000 residents having confronted the entrenched establishment elites of Republicans and their crony capitalists in oil and gas industry. She enjoys a popularity rating of close to 82 percent among the electorate of Alaska. She has demonstrated real world leadership and is clearly qualified to govern 100 Senators and their staff. How much harder could it be?

My leg just got all tingly.
I would love to see her put Senators Reid, Byrd, Clinton and Obama (haha!) in their place, you betcha.
I personally can’t wait....Nov 5 isn’t here soon enough!!!
I was thinking about this the other day. Historically, the VP doesn’t exercise this duty much, usually just for formal occasions or when he is needed on a close vote that could potentially be a tie.
But that doesn’t mean that a VP Palin couldn’t take a more active role, presiding over the Senate on days where she was not performing other duties. I’d pay to see the look an Reid’s face if she starts doing so...
You mean Palin as the boss of Obama and Biden?
Especially if it were a time when the Senate was debating an energy bill.
I have a better idea: imagine Sarah Palin as President of these Unites States.
Dump the Queeg; unleash the Sarahcuda.
I personally can’t wait to hear VP Sarah tell Harry Reid to sit down and shut his trap, you betcha.
Remember that in the Senate, the rules of decorum dictate that all speeches are addressed to the President of the Senate. That is why you hear every senator constantly saying “Mr. President” any time they speak.
Imagine what fun it will be to watch the libs have to say “Madame President” to Sarah Palin for 4-8 years! LOL
I'd love it too.
What a class act she would bring to that bunch of cronies.
What a class act she would bring to that bunch of cronies.
We all may have to imagine it, especially if McCain/Palin ends up losing the Presidential race.
What I really want her to do as VP is to head a task force on energy independence. No one is better equipped to get that job done.
I was watching video earlier of a Palin event. A man yelled out, “You’re the man!”
Yes, she is.
