Semi-News/Semi-Satire

CBS News anchor, Katie Couric characterized Republican vice-presidential nominee, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as dangerously uninformed and naïve.
She doesnt watch my show or any other major network news program, Couric complained. She doesnt read the New York Times, Washington Post or any other respected daily newspaper. Her sources for news are something called the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman, the local Wasilla TV station KTUU, and, get this, some blog called Free Republic. Do the American voters want someone this far outside of the mainstream to be a heartbeat from becoming president?
TOPICS: Humor; Politics; TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: bias; couric; media; satire

You write: “Can we please have a mandatory SATIRE alert in the title. This is making us look stupid.”
Well....
“Semi-News/Semi-Satire” appears right next to the title.
“Satire” appears in “key words.”
“Humor” appears in “topics.”
Readers are well-informed if they make a slight effort.

One positive thing about former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau — he never missed an opportunity to inform members of the national media how little he thought of them, and how little he valued their opinions on anything. He often said that he never watched the news, or read news articles. He preferred books, or his own, trusted sources of information — and he had many of these at his disposal.
Most people would be amazed at how much better informed a Governor can be than anyone who depends entirely on the mass media for information. Palin would have daily briefings from top experts in various fields — also, she would be plugged into the Republican Party apparatus. There would also be opinion polls — done right — and she would have a complete analysis of these polls presented to her. In addition, as a Governor, she would be able to network with other Governors & would have calls to Washington returned. The only thing to be learned from reading national newspapers is what propaganda the people are being fed at the moment.

In Katie’s world, you are not informed unless you watch her show or the network news or read the NY Times. That’s about what I thought she would say - typical liberal elitist attitude.

Do the American voters want someone this far outside of the mainstream to be a heartbeat from becoming president?” _______________________________________ Congratulations, she is finally getting it. The answer should be a very obvious YES. Every news source listed is no longer a news source (if they ever were) but propaganda for the left. "mainstream" and her news sources have little in common. Hopefully McCain doesn't read them either.
