I wasted another evening on Tuesday watching one of the media events ignorant journalists insist on misrepresenting as debates. The candidates repeated the same cliches they used in their first debate.
Once again Sen. Barack Obama demonstrated that he is dangerously ignorant in the area of foreign policy and the War on Terror. Once again journalists ignored his mistake.
Obama. is apparently incapable of understanding the fact that sending military forces into another country without permission is an invasion. It doesn't matter why the troops enter the country, it is still an act of war. The fact that Osama bin Laden might be in Pakistan doesn't mean the U.S. can invade Pakistan without fear of retaliation -- and Pakistan most definitely does have nuclear weapons.
Obama doesn't understand the volatility of the situation in Pakistan. The country has been on the brink of a civil war for many years and its government could fall at any time. An American invasion would force the government to declare war on the U.S. to try to keep the country united. The first action in that war might be a nuclear attack that would wipe out our forces in the Middle East.
Obama's obsession with bin Laden and Afghanistan indicates he doesn't understand the War on Terror. This war isn't a traditional war against an enemy with a geographic base.
Al Qaeda can function without bin Laden and might even benefit if the United States killed or captured him. Others are available to head al Qaeda if something happens to bin Laden.
Death at the hands of the U.S. would make bin Laden a martyr and violent Muslims would rally to avenge his death. Capture of bin Laden would provoke efforts to capture Americans any where in the world in an attempt to obtain hostages to trade for him.
Al Qaeda doesn't have a fixed location that it has to defend. If pushed out of one area, al Qaeda will move to some other area with a large Muslim population. If the U.S. leaves Iraq before the Iraqis are able to maintain stability in the country, al Qaeda will move in and use Iraq as a base.
It is no longer important whether or not Iraq should have become a battleground in the War on Terror. The fact is that Iraq is a battleground in the War on Terror and we cannot afford to turn that battleground over to al Qaeda.
Don’t worry. Obama will only use troops where the US has no vital interests, like Haiti or Darfur. He’s just blowing smoke otherwise. As usual.
Wow, this is an incredible point. And it could still be made.
Actually, we are starting to operate in Pakistan. As McCain kept trying to say without saying, its not something you talk about publicly.
Most journalists do not have a clue about foreign politics and policies.....so I suppose it would be difficult to have an intellectual thought about something you know nothing about let alone criticize or find merit in others ideas on the subjects ;)
Through the rose colored glasses of the MSM, they have to find reason to criticize first.
The Messiah is always right and can not be worthy of criticism ever.
Osama Obama is the most inexperienced person in foreign policy to ever run for president, this side of Jimmy Carter. At the critical juncture, it’s unbelievable that he is this close to be Commander in Chief. I pray for our nation. I pray for our troops that they have not died in vein.
Slightly off topic, but...............
Has anyone mentioned what Obama said about 9/11 in last night’s debate? It jumped out at me. He said, “Some of you remember 9/11.” Then he went on to talk about people remembering where they were and what they were doing, etc.
It seemed such an odd error to make.
So what George Bush ordered in Iraq and Afghanistan was an "invasion" and "an act of war?"
That would depend solely on how soon China wants to invade Taiwan.
The US has struck inside Pakistan a half dozen times or more over the past two years, each time with drones.
So this argument that we won't attack inside Pakistan is baloney.
GWB has good reason NOT to make it public, and Pakistan likewise would have a revolution on their hands if THEY went public.
Do some research on various military sites, and you will find some info on unmanned attacks.
Obama is dangerous - on so many levels.
Actually, 0bama made a bigger mistake, in my opinion, when talking about the use of military power. He commented that we could have done something about the Holocaust. We did, by defeating Germany. Incidentally, we concentrated on the defeat of Germany first in spite of the fact we were also at war with the Japanese, who had attacked us. I guess that whole US intervention thing with the Holocaust and the defeat of Nazi Germany would have been a “distraction” in 0bama’s eyes.
Question: how do troops and supplies make it to Afghanistan? Is it primarily, or exclusively, by flying over Pakistan airspace?
If so, starting something with Pakistan would have a very bad outcome if Pakistan decided to buy the latest Russian anti-air missle systems—just aim at the C-140’s.
At least Carter had been in the Navy.
I was saddened McCain didn’t remind Obama of Americas Chickens and other great Jeremiah Wright quotes.
The link provided does not work - do you have a working link?
freudian slip...
the left would like to pretend it never happened.
A segment of the left believed it was our fault or Bush/Cheney did it.
And some HAVE completely forgotten it.
Leftists like bambi think everyone thinks like they do.
My thought exactly.
I just tried it and it worked. Maybe there was a problem with the site when you tried it.
find later bump
