Is Snopes liberal and "Down" for Obama? (vanity)

I have seen an email circulation about three Obama insiders being past Fannie Mae looters (my term).

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government; Miscellaneous; Politics
KEYWORDS: howard; johnson; raines; snopes
Then today I got a mass reply from someone down the line who said Snopes is saying it's false. See HERE.

So, I checked the site and while they don't exactly disassociate Obama from the looters (my term), they do their best to spin it off as a casual crossing of paths - much like the Bill Ayers association.

I did some surfing around the Snopes site(one is used to trust) and it seems like that go to great lengths to paint liberals in a good light while the opposite is true for their treatment of conservatives.

Snopes is slanted. They play word games and split hairs all the time when 'debunking' any assertion which goes contrary to their apparently leftist political POV.

I would recommend not using them as the final word on any issue.

Snopes did the same thing for Kerry re: Swiftboats that were provably true.

So, yes, they are in the tank for Obama.

Someone sent me an e-mail where I work listing all the deaths associated with the Clintons. Of course, someone else sent a link to Snopes saying that this was debunked. I went to the site and it was nothing more than Democratic talking points right from James Carville’s playbook. They even said that many of the deaths didn’t really happen.

Snopes is a Leftists site, run by leftists activists, who use their false authority to promote the Leftists agenda.

They once took down the Clinton Body Count and linked the Bush Body Count in its place.

On the eve of the push to baghdad in ‘03, they refused to acknowledge any support for troops headed into combat for America - they said to the effect of “we must maintain our objectivity”...

I will never give them the web hit they so desperately need. I wish I could convince other FReepers to do the same.

Thank you for confirming the same suspicions I had regarding the exact same e-mail - several friends sent me e-mails saying Snopes had listed it as false, but, like you, when I actually read their “supporting evidence” I also concrrued that they were debunking semantics, not actual incidents.

As long as I’ve been aware of snopes they’ve been liberal. Even more biased with 0bama, IMHO, then even the Clintoons.

You are correct.  Consider the wording of the Snopes claim below, which would lead the leader to believe that Saddam Hussein was not trying to restart Iraq's nuclear program.  It says nothing of the Duelfer Report which found damning evidence to the contrary.

Have Your Yellowcake

Claim:   The removal of yellowcake uranium from Iraq in 2008 proved that Saddam Hussein had been trying to restart Iraq's nuclear program.

Status:   False.
