An unhappy interlude is coming

An unhappy interlude is coming

Yesterday's debate convinced me of one underlying fact: Barack Obama is likely to become our nation's 44th president, and if one looks at this through the prism of the long-term, that reality isn't such a bad occurrence for the nation or for the conservative movement for that matter. The last eight years has destroyed the conservative brand, saying nothing about what it has done to the Republican Party. While George W. Bush has espoused conservative principles, on many issues his actions looked more left-of-center in nature. On immigration, domestic spending and the like, the GOP president has taken a more liberal approach and tried too hard to be friendly with his Democratic enemies. And, he did so under the headline of being a 'compassionate conservative'. Of course, he wasn’t alone in doing this, as many GOPers in the U.S. Senate and House followed suit, down the dangerous path we find ourselves on today.

Thus, when the financial crisis of 2008 began with Bush at the helm, a clear opportunity presented itself to his and our enemies: blame the entire mess on capitalism, conservatism and on the GOP.

No matter, that the ills affecting this nation today have less to do with conservative principals, but rather the result of our elected officials moving away from those conservatives principals.

On Election Day, John McCain will pay the heaviest price for this, by losing the election and handing the White House to Barack Obama. Still, I remain optimistic.

First and foremost, 2008 gave us a preview of the GOP of the future, and it is certainly bright. Sarah Palin, the wonderful first-term Gov. of Alaska will only blossom, as a leader in our party and as the leader in her state. While the left likes to scold Palin as being inexperienced, time will only diminish that opinion by many American voters that might believe in that premise now, but won’t in the future. And, don’t forget about Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who like Palin is a first-term GOP governor that will only grow in stature in time. And, certainly don’t forget the likes of former Govs. Mitt Romney and Michael Huckabee, who both have proven conservative records that will appeal to many in the future. While a McCain vs. Obama fight presented a no brainer for us Republicans – go with McCain -, this fact remains: McCain was never one of us, and that was part of the problem. Too often in recent years Republicans have run as Republicans, but have governed as GOP RINOs. And when candidates, such as McCain have opinions that more closely matched those of ones Democratic opponent then those of the every-day conservative, the true liberal will win the augment each and every time.

We has conservatives, however, must keep our heads above water. Whether it be in 2012, 2016 or sometime later, at some point the Republican Party will truly push-for and be lead-by conservative leaders again, and when that day comes, the nation will follow. While the most-liberal president in history may soon run Washington, D.C., all is not lost. With power comes responsibility, and even the secular messiah himself cannot clean up the ills of the day pushing the same, tired liberal programs that have failed in the past. Like those Democrats elected in years past, Obama and his liberal brethren will overshoot their goals and look at their mandate through very clouded glasses. Eventually, the American people – as they always do – will wise up and take another look at the conservative alternative.

The next four years will not be for the faint-at-heart. Obama’s victory will do great harm to this nation, even if it shows to be just a four-year interlude. But, we conservatives must remain all-smiles and know this: whenever conservatism is tested, it works brilliantly. The American people, when presented with a true conservative will react accordingly. Unfortunately, history teaches us that we often become complacent and need a friendly reminder about just how bad the other side is. That time, begins on November 4.

One wonders how many similar articles were written by Venezuelan conservatives when Chavez came to power.

God save us from so called conservatives who think putting our nation into the hands of a radical Leftist narcissist with dictatorial tendencies, a messiah complex, thug followers and a cult following of millions of blind worshipers is somehow a good thing.

The ides of October are coming: Case of Berg vs. DNC regarding birth certificate of Obama. From the article:(h/t Macranger).

“Plaintiff served discovery in way of Admissions and Request for Production of Documents, on Defendants on September 15, 2008 and has attempted to obtain verification of Obama’s eligibility through subpoenas to the government entities and the hospital's in Hawaii. To date, Plaintiffs and two of (2) the locations, which subpoenas were served upon, refused to honor the subpoenas.

“For the above aforementioned reasons, Plaintiff respectfully request Defendants and the Democratic National Committee's Motion to Dismiss pursuant to F.R.C.P. 12(b)(1) and 12(b)(6) be denied and order immediate discovery (the unsigned order requiring Obama to produce...” within three (3) days{

1. Obama’s “vault” version (certified copy of his “original” long version) birth certificate; and
2. a certified copy of Obama’s Certificate of Citizenship;
3. a certified copy of Obama’s oath of allegiance.”

Defendant Obama claims he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961 and it is uncertain in which hospital he claims to have been born. Obama's grandmother on his father's side, his half-brother and half-sister all claim Obama was born not in Hawaii but in Kenya. Reports reflect that Obama's mother traveled to Kenya during her pregnancy; however, she was prevented from boarding a flight from Kenya to Hawaii. At her late stage of pregnancy (which apparently are normal restrictions, to avoid births during flights). By these reports, Stanley Ann Dunham Obama gave birth to Obama in Kenya, after which she flew home and registered Obama's birth. There are records of a "registry of birth" for Obama, on or about August 8, 1961 in the public records office in Hawaii."

“The Republican Party, as we knew it in the Reagan administration, is DEAD! RINOS killed America.”

For years, the Republicans have been running on Reagan’s record, but they have been generating a distinctively un-Reaganesque record while doing it. At this point they can’t run on Reagan’s record, they have to run on their own records and that’s why they are failing.

One of the biggest problems you have being an activist is being too close to the fire. It skews your perception. I’ve thought candidates I’ve supported both won and lost - and turned out to be dead wrong.

I hear her arguments but I dont’ see supporting evidence. Much of it and alot of people on FR is based on perception alone. What matters is the perception of the electorate as a whole.

I think last night was a draw. Obama did no better than McCain. At best the independents may be starting to fall to one camp or the other, but I don’t see either taking ground. If you like style you’ll think Obama won, if you like substance you’ll think McCain won. I predict it will break along those lines.

Now voters are having buyers remorse. lol. We had ten candidates and somehow, cheating with Huckster (West Virginia), McCain won. We are stuck with the GOP candidate and nothing we can do about it. Yes Romney would have won the election without even breaking a sweat, but we are stuck with what we are stuck with...go vote in November for McCain. Sad we are in a squeaker again.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the up side in electing a weak socialist with an unbridled yearning for power. Looking for the positive here is like trying to feel good if my doctor says, "your heart is likely to stop next month, and if one looks at this through the prism of the long-term, that reality isn't such a bad occurrence for your health or for your family." No. I don't see an upside four years later if my heart stops this year.

Okay, actually I do see an up side, it's called heaven. However, I have work to do here first. Similarly, the United States has a lot of good left to do in this world, and it's premature to allow this great country to die so that brainwashed victims of political correctness and white guilt can feel good about giving the unqualified but black guy a turn.

Although I have little faith in people around me here in California; I am forced to believe that outside of the liberal hell I am in, there are still good, honest people who will vote for what is best for the country and not what MSM tells them to vote for.

Everything we see on the news is a reflection of the liberal bias on the MSM side and I cannot in good conscious accept their word, no matter what poll they cite. Hopefully McCain has more surprises up his sleeve and we’ll be shocked again like the announcement of Palin for VP.

If the American spirit is dead, then God have mercy on our souls, but I will show up in the polls on November 4th and cast my ballot for the least of two evils and for what I believe is best for our country.

Vote McCain, it is the only hope for our future as a nation...YES! It is that important.

... if one looks at this through the prism of the long-term, that reality isn't such a bad occurrence for the nation or for the conservative movement for that matter.

Obama will get to replace all of the left wing Justices on the Supreme Court with newer, younger, even further left wing versions. If he gets to replace any one of the conservative or moderate Justices, then we can all look forward to another 30 years of liberal control of the Supreme Court.

Obama will also get to replace dozens of district court and appellate court justices. Very few cases ever get beyond the appellate court level, so even if Obama doesn't get a chance remake the Supreme Court, he will certainly be able to ensure that the majority of district and appellate courts are controlled by the far left wing.

Obama, Pelosi and Reid will be able to successfully blame all of the financial turmoil caused by Democrat control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on Bush. Bush will go down in history as another Hoover. Meanwhile, the economy will go entirely down the drain with the socialists fully in control.

Then there is the little matter of Iraq. Obama will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and cut and run. An abandoned Iraq will look a lot like abandoned South Viet Nam. As Iraq plunges into a civil war and is then taken over by Iran, all will be blamed on Bush. This will be followed by a Jimmy Carter style de-construction of the US military.

Not a lot to be optimistic about.

Well it was a very ugly debate. McCain didn’t do well but neither did Obama. McCain sounded terrible but substance wise he was much better. Obama sounded great but really didn’t say much. Neither really addressed the questions, the audience, or the people watching.

Obama also moved to the center and that may have ticked off his base, especially in the invading Pakistan comments. McCain for all his bad speaking skills did come across as solid and competent, at least I felt anyway. Obama sounded great but had a very risky quality to him.

I don’t know how the voters will take that debate. It was a muddled ugly mess. BUT sometimes, strangely, what seems not so clear and pretty comes off in the long run as real and has sticking power with people because it’s more substance based and sinks into people’s heads over time. And sometimes the clear and decisive has no sticking power at all. We shall see.
