I’ve lost track of how many bail-outs there have been over the past year. Each one has been touted as the cure until the next crisis.
Nothing new here...what’s bad for America is good for Obama and his ilk. Comrade Pelosi will cobble together a really leftist plan to recoup some of the Dems who would not vote for the “watered-down” plan. There are more plays left.

If most of the country was against the bailout, and the Republicans were the ones that stopped it (which they really weren’t, but that’s the way the media’s spinning it)...then how did they get “owned.”
Basically the Republicans were going to take the fall for the economy whether the bill got passed, or not. That’s why McCain’s poll numbers had been falling since the economy took front and center attention.
If the bill had passed, his numbers, IMHO, wouldn’t have been any better because he wouldn’t have gotten credit (from those who wanted the bill) or he would have gotten credit (from those who hated the bill.) It was a lose/lose situation for McCain, so the Republicans did the right thing, stood on principle and let the chips fall where they may.

McCain was alone in front of a dark curtain, no crowd. Obama was shown in front of a bunch of white people. (for those in rio linda, the obama camp adjusts the behind obama audience to be pc friendly vs the actual crowd)
Andrea Mitchell just reported on morning joe that Newt Gingrich was involved in twisting republican arms to vote against the bill in order to get it killed. She says he’s starting his presidential run for 2012.
FWIW, Gingrich was publically for the bill.
Ah, I’m pretty sure he’s been against the bailout from the start. He’s been very vocal about it.
To tell you the truth, I couldn’t stand Gingrich way back when, but now he is one of my favorite people. It did him good to leave Washington. It gave him a chance to clean out his closet. I think he is much more credible now. What ever he did wrong, it’s in the past now.

Go read the articles from the American Spectator ( TAS)online magazine for the last week. The Dems were planning to sandbag the Bailout to help OBama . Pelois’s house whip knew they did not have the votes .It was a set up . TAS was already prediting that was there games plan. Harry Reid iades were jumping with joy when the Lehman Bros sunk the market last week.
