Breaking News McCain, in Bexley, pledges to 'clean up Wall Street' Monday, September 29, 2008 3:36 PM By JEFF DONAHUE ThisWeek Staff Writer
Republican presidential candidate John McCain gives a thumbs up to the crowd as he stands with vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Palin's daughter, Willow, and his wife, Cindy, during a rally at Capital University on Monday. Sen. John McCain's presidential bid is back on track, and the Republican nominee isn't offering any apologies for his brief detour from the campaign trail last week.
McCain came out swinging during a Monday morning rally in front of a packed house on Bexley's Capital University campus.
Bringing the presidential battle back to the battleground state of Ohio, McCain said he had to temporarily suspend his campaign to personally deal with the Wall Street financial crisis.
"We need reform in Washington and on Wall Street," McCain said. "When the financial crisis threatened the economic security of all Americans, I laid out principles to protect hard-working Americans. I believed that inaction was not an option."

He needs to clean-up Congress first.
If McCain going to Wall Street to battle earmarks too?
Is McCain going to Wall Street to battle earmarks too?
Ya clean up congress and dispose of Barney Franks
When is McCain going to take on the corrupt congressmen in Washington?
He needs to name names, “make them famous,” not just attack the ‘earmark’ strawman.
Earmarks don’t have names, corrupt congressmen do.
You've got that right.
any ohio FReeper attend who can give a head count, review of speeches & if any protesters showed up & what they did.
have found next to nothing on news as I realize the failed bill for now is overwhelming all other news
BOR is on now reaming John (Jingus Kahn) Kerry....LOVE IT!
McCain is hopeless. The Bailout he supported did nothing but make sure that taxpayers foot the bill. That is all it was. He blames the generic "Wall Street", or "Washington", but not specific Democrats such as Barney Franks, Chris Dodd, or Obama. Geez, the guy flew an A-4 (the A stands for Attack), and wasn't afraid of SAM's, but can't bring himself to attack the Democrats at their most vulnerable and strategic point.
Another report says 9,000 were there.

That's good to hear, but HOW are they going to do it? At this stage of campaign, the public needs to know how exactly candidates are planning to do whatever they promise to do. If McCain still thinks Washington and Wall Street as 'My friends', no reform will come through.
Damn straight.
I have found it reprehensible how they lowball.. major low ball .. the attendees at the rallies
The one we attended in Vienna had police, fire marshalls, rally heads all giving a number of 8-10,000.
MOST of the reports said several thousand.. (indicating maybe 2 or 3?) and the local paper here indicated HUNDREDS were in attendance.
despicable.
Here is the link to the FR thread on the Vienna rally a few weeks ago.
John, ask the voters to clean up Congress. Name names. You’re going to have to take on the DEMOCRATS. Not just Obama and the Media.
The Democrats pushed this sub-prime mess on us and provided cover to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (what stupid names).
The Democrat Congress is the problem. Their record his horrible. You’re the only one with the bullhorn right now.
You are posting that to a brick wall.
Never will happen, much to our dismay.
