Sarah Palin And What God Says About The Family, Women Rulers (Loon Alert)
The American View ^

Posted on 09/23/2008 8:03:05 AM PDT by mnehring

The 'geniuses'(sic) at the Constitution Party debate if it is Biblical for Sarah Palin to be VP- they determine- NO.

Here are some snips:
Sarah Palin’s selection by John McCain to be his running mate in his bid for the presidency of the United States is not only a surprise political move, it also carries with it implications of historic proportions. If Senator McCain is successful in his candidacy, Mrs. Palin will become the first woman to fill the office of vice president of this country and be in place to assume the presidency, if necessary. She will also be in line to take up the Republican nomination for president in the future. If John McCain becomes president and chooses to serve only one term, it is quite possible that the next presidential election (2012) will be between Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. But Palin’s nomination to the vice presidency is not only an historic occasion for our country, it is also a watershed moment for evangelical Christians, particularly those who claim to be complementarian in their views of men and women (i.e., those who believe that men and women have different but complementary roles according t o the revealed will of God).

Male Leadership and the Creation Order-
...everything in Scripture supports the view that the distinction between men and women in terms of headship and roles is an essential distinction that applies to every area of life. The difference between men and women in terms of their place, calling, and function is based in God’s plan for them and is expressed in the creation order...

The Bible Does Strictly Prohibit Women From Leadership as Civil Magistrates-
..the Bible strictly prohibits women from holding civil office by declaring that rulers ought to be men...

The Devaluation of Christian Womanhood-
..Rather than upholding the biblical role of the woman, they have undermined it; rather than exalting=2 0biblical womanhood, they have cheapened it; rather than standing for biblical complementarianism, they have compromised it. According to Scripture, the woman was created to be man’s assistant in his dominion task...

Why this Evangelical Compromise Is So Significant to the Future of the Church-
..In commenting on the evangelical church’s enthusiastic embrace of the candidacy of Sarah Palin, Doug Phillips wrote these very sobering words: “… the widespread acceptance of a pro-life professing Christian Republican, self-proclaimed feminist mother of an infant and four children as a candidate for the highest office of the land is the single most dangerous event for the conscience of the Christian community of the last ten years at least.

I just snipped a few conclusions they made because it is so long.. I always find the Constitution Party folks over at the American View a complete trip. They are walking evidence of the old phrase, you can prove anything in the Bible..

The way I look at it, this issue was taken off the table when women got the right to vote. Our friends at the CP are just 80 years too late.

The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

The Constitution Party is, as usual, a complete joke.

Why would you name your party after something that you can't understand?

They say that if you take a text out of context, you make it a pretext.

Deborah was a judge over Israel, and one of the best of the bunch no less.

Its amazing that some folks think the Constitution Party is some purist standard bearer of the US Constitution. We’ve laughed at John Lofton, Michael Peroutka, and Chuckey Baldwin for a long time here..

I just remebered, there was an article a while back where John Lofton extolled the virtues of Sharia Law, basically, he said the only problem was it was based on the Koran, not the Bible, but the concept was right.. I need to dig that one up..

I would have expected more of this stuff by now.
In fact we had comments on this forum that a woman would not be qualified for the highest office in the land.

If the affiliation is credible, then this is legitimate criticism.

Besides, in the strictest sense, elected officials are not “rulers”, they are civil administrators, the “rulers” are the people who vote.

A few years back the police stopped and arrested a woman for breastfeeding an infant while driving on an interstate.

Not only was she engaging in this almost inconceivably stupid activity, she was driving an unregistered and unlicensed vehicle.

She claimed that the arrest was religious discrimination because she and her husband were "Biblical Constitutionalists" and that she acknowledged no law except her husband's orders and her husband acknowledged no law that contradicted his interpretation of the Bible and the Constitution.

The husband signed up on FR to defend his demented opinions and received some support - but was pretty soundly thrashed by smarter FReepers.

The American View is run by Michael Peroutka, the Constitution party candidate for President in 2004 and still party leader. The American View has been linked from the Constitution Party’s official site as one of their official resources as well as Peroutka’s Institute on the Constitution.

It is, to the Constitution Party, what the DLC is to the DNC.

Okay, then like I said, it’s fair criticism. They’re not going to win anything with rhetoric like that being so closely affiliated with them. Of course I doubt they’ll win anything anyway but that’s in the nature of being a relatively unknown 3rd party.

I found it interesting that liberals were the most vocal saying that she wasn't qualified to be president when she was first announced.
She was greeted with wild support by 99% of conservatives.

Methinks that several third parties where hoping, with McCain winning, that they would have a sudden influx of new members and money. Then, suddenly, Palin pulled that rug out from under them. They are on full bore attack against her to try to keep attention on them.

You said it. Why not look to the Constitution as far as Sarah Palin’s eligibility to be VPOTUS, if you are indeed the “Constitution Party” and not the “Bible Party”.

Can't agree with that. I think this year has the suckiest bunch of third party candidates in my lifetime and their incompetence hurts them a lot more than the Palin selection.

Why not call it “my crazy interpretation of the Bible” Party and quit insulting the Constitution by association?

Thanks for posting this. I had found some of their materials promising, but this has shown them to me in a whole new light.

The pastor who wrote this article apparently does not know that the President is not a “ruler over us” as he states in his opinion.

You know what they say about opinions, of course.

It wasn’t about the quality of the third party candidates, it was their attempt to attract disenfranchised Conservatives. In the past, they’ve often gone after the independent minded, this year, they where moving to try to get the Conservatives. That’s why the Palin move hurt them and explains their strange moves now.

You are right though, the third party options this year make old Ross Perot seem completely sane.

Try this when talking to them:

First of all, in the Bible, the Judge, Deborah led “Barak” and the Army of Israel to victory. God uses women sometimes to lead. And this is one of those times!

From this website:

http://www.cbmw.org/Blog/Posts/Does-Governor-Sarah-Palin-Present-a-Dilemma-for-Complementarians

“we must remember that on November 4 the voters will not elect a national minister or pastor in chief. A president is not held to the same moral standards as an elder of a church. While it is a blessing from God to have ethical or even Christian political leaders, the Bible places no such requirements on secular governments. Even though the Bible reserves final authority in the church for men, this does not apply in the kingdom of this world.

Therefore we must be careful to not go beyond the teaching of the Bible. The Bible calls women to specific roles in the church and home, but does not prohibit them from exercising leadership in secular political fields. Rather, the Queen of Sheba is presented in 1 Kings 10:1-13 in a positive light in her interaction with King Solomon. Queen Esther offers an even better example of a woman who appropriately exerted influence for the good of her people without holding the highest position of national authority (Esther 2:17). In this light, we cannot categorically say that it was sinful for Queen Victoria to lead England as a single woman strictly because of her gender, nor can we condemn Governor Palin or any other woman for seeking the office of Vice President.

Women should not be held back from an office that is not strictly forbidden in the Bible. Nevertheless, the question remains whether or not it is wise for a specific woman in a particular season of life to seek such an office — and the same would apply to any man. In evaluating individual cases, a spouse and a local church pastor would be a crucial source of counsel and a means of grace from God. Because of cultural voices to the contrary, we must remind ourselves of the unbelievably high calling of being a wife and mother, and that faithful service in the home is just as pleasing to God as national leadership.

So a female vice president, or even a female president, doesn’t necessarily pose a dilemma for complementarians. It is inevitable in God’s providence that a gifted woman will lead the United States, just as women have led England, Germany, India and many other countries around the world.”

“When Israel chose new gods, Everything collapsed. Our masters would not let us have a shield or spear.” (second amendment rights)

“Blessed be Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite—Yes, may she be blessed above all women who live in tents”

“oh Lord, may all your enemies perish as Sisera did, But may those who love the Lord shine as the sun!”

Judges 5, selected.
