One of my favorite commenters, Madison Man, just happens to have an office window overlooking the scene:
The time is 10:30 a.m. Notices for the event said that the "doors" would open at 9:00 and the event would begin at 10.
Not quite a hotbed of Michelle-love, is it?

LOL.
I would have gone with a sign that said, “Hey Michelle, I have always been PROUD of MY COUNTRY!!”
The media shots that will show up on the news will make it look like a big crowd.
i’m sure the msm will report 200,000 attendees present.
I’ve seen more people at a garage sale here in my small north central Wisconsin town!
It sure shouldn’t have taken an hour for that many people to collect. I wonder how many got bored waiting?
School’s back in session so Madistan should be awash with Marxist thinkers. Hmmmmmm....
Speaking Monday on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Michelle Obama tailored her speech to the many women and college students in the crowd of about 1,800.
He works the bar, so a full crowd is good for his wallet....
Interestingly enough, the local paper trumpeted the event as "Sold Out" and showed long lines to get in. My friend said that they kept the doors locked until just before the event was scheduled to crank up (again, impacting his bar tips) and that was why the lines were so long.
Interesting spin, no?
Looks like a couple dozen are just there to do the exercise course in the park.
Michele’s “Charge of the Light Brigade”
“CANNON to the right of them!”
“CANNON to the left of them!”
“Is the cannon on my right or theirs?”
“Where is the other cannon?”
“Who wrote this speech anyway?”
“I don’t even like weapons!”
“Where are my 60,000 fans!?”
If there’s 1800 people in that picture, I’ll eat my keyboard.
1800 on the campus of the U of Wisconsin, one of the most liberal schools in the country? Maybe college students are really all that enthusiastic about Obama.
The AP gets caught lying again. The report should have commented on the surprisingly small crowd.
The Obama campaign is being kept afloat by our Democrat friends in the news media.
Imagine crowds of eager people eagerly gathering to hear Michelle Obama dictate how they are going to think and vote.
Such charisma!
Nowhere close to 1800.
The reporter was counting the absentees.
So the porter potties outnumbered the attendees ???
Can’t really judge by the picture. It doesn’t look like the event has started and it also appears that some people are still walking to it. Aside from that, 1800 is a very small crowd for a very large liberal college.
great post in the blog comments:
“True, Madison is filled with students who could have attended, but I would divide them between hard-working types who went to class (which still fascinates this early in the term), and slackers who are sleeping in after a hard weekend.”
Prollie the Falun Gong crowd.
250-300 tops. If it’s from AP, you know it’s cr-AP.
With the curved lines in the background it looks like they are in a dome. Are they?
There’s probably a computer program that could count each individual in that picture, even given the not-so-good resolution. There is NO WAY there are 1800 people in this photo.
Heh. Interesting optical illusion. They’re outdoors. What you see isn’t the inside of a dome, it’s the outside of a building in the distance.
No! the reporter was counting the Ghosts of the ACORN VOTER Registrations of Dead People ready to Vote for Obama HUSSEIN, the reincarnation of Saddam.
To be fair and honest, Michelle is not a candidate.
The picture was taken at 10:30. The event was scheduled to begin at 10:00. Maybe they are holding off starting so they can bus in some more people.
what if it was Jackie Kennedy? She was not a candidate for office...
As a person that attended the McCain Palin rally in Cedar Rapids and correctly estimated the crowd at 4-6 thousand before hearing that official estimates were 5000, I’d say there are about 6-800 people in that picture.
Michelle forgot the Rock Band.....to attract an unwitting crowd.
I was going to say Watermelon, but that would have been racist - in addition to being out of season.
That is so true... then she should keep her anti-American mouth shut!
Yes, but Jackie brought sunshine and uplifting messages. And she was married to a presidential candidate whose message was one of reclaiming America’s promise—not changing it by adopting the commununist model. And what was one of the lynchpins of his presdency—along with national security? Tax cuts. Michelle Obama whines and disses her country. Who really wants to hear that? Also, the mantra of “Bush did it” has just gotten too old. Heck, it seems like Onada is running against Bush more than he is McCain. If her attendance numbers continue to be embarrassing they’ll team her back up with Onada. Looks like his attendance numbers aren’t looking too good either. Be patient, I think we’re gonna see some significant moving toward McCain/Palin after the debates. And the media will not be able to run enough interference for the Messiah to cover it up.
thank you...I certainly agree with your post...
Feel the excitement. Every bit of anecdotal evidence says...landslide.
