Massie Ritsch at OpenSecrets.org writes that:
- John McCain "personally intervened with government regulators to allow his [Keating's] S&L to make risky investments that ultimately defrauded thousands of investors and cost taxpayers $3.4 billion"
- "The Senate ethics committee investigated the Keating scandal and reprimanded McCain, the only Republican among the five senators, for his poor judgment."
Massie Ritsch didn't write that:
- John McCain did NOT intervene with government regulators.
- The Senate Ethics Committee cleared McCain of ALL charges against him.
- The Senate Ethics Committee report stated unequivocally that McCain's actions were NOT improper or negligent.
- The Senate Ethics Committee did NOT reprimand McCain.
(very) Old news. Already dealt with. But there are TONS of questions about Mr. Obama.
'Truth' is what promotes your cause, if you are a leftist. Therefore, events maybe interpreted in any fashion necessary to arrive a the 'truth' you want to exploit. Leftist, liberals, etc. live in a relativistic world.
Something to consider in light of McCain’s open support for the Federal Government bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Seriously folks. Sometimes people don't want to hear the TRUTH when it steps all over their cutle, little elaborate porcelean elephant figurines on the floor.
Truth can be so downright ..."inconvenient" at times.
Old news? Yes.
The problem is that liberals think they can include a few tidbits of “history” in an article about current events and have that “history” presumed to be fact.
Not only were the charges against McCain unjustified, they were a complete reversal of the situation. He did not intervene. He attended two meetings where he made clear that he did not want to impede any regulatory action but wanted to be sure that his constituent was being treated fairly. When he found out that there were possible criminal referrals, he backed out completely.
Keating was his friend, his sponsor and a major contributor. McCain told him to go f... to go f.... to go fly a kite. I call that integrity.
I would go a little further and say that Keating didn't do a heck of a lot wrong. If he had moved those G-D tables 30 feet we would never had heard of him. He was too clever by half and it ruined him.
