Who pays for Joe Biden's daily AMTRAK commute from Wilmington, DE to DC?
We hear about how Joe Biden is just a regular guy, commuting daily by AMTRAK between his home in Wilmington, DE and the Senate. Has anyone checked out the price of this commute? The cheapest fare on AMTRAK is $42, one way, or $84 roundtrip. Now, we know how(little) the Congress works, so let's say the Senator makes the trip 3 times per week. That is a cost of $252/week, or almost $1100/month, or over $13,000/yr. Who pays this?
I know Members of Congress get a fixed number of free trips between DC and their home districts, but do they get free commutation to work daily?
I'd like to get the answer to this question.
Second: we all know blue collar Joe has had hair plugs. But, take a good look at his eyes. It looks to me like he has that Greta Van Sustern and Peter Jennings look, that is, it looks like he has had an EYE JOB.
Can anyone verify? (I googled it and found many hits confirming my hunch, but also hits that he has had an actual face lift in addition the eye job). Can anyone confirm?
If he has had these procedures, then his "blue collar, man of the people" facade will be shattered.
Probably the last people who want to know the answer to that question are those hapless DE voters.
I got an idea:
Let’s worry about important things.
Judicial philosophy, energy policy, foreign affairs, social policy - the big things.
There should be plenty of differences here that we don’t have to be picking nits.
The eye thing doesn’t bother me. Anyone here in Delaware knows that he is so vain. My question is that if somehow he does get elected will he live in the VP residence or will we have to pay extra security for him to commute?
Don’t forget that in addition to the $42 that parties unknown pay, the federal government subsidizes Amtrak an additional $30 per ticket!
I’m no fan of Biden, but when figuring the true cost, you have to factor in the savings by not maintaining a second home in D. C. That cost would be well over $13,000 per year. Biden may in fact be saving money.
THAT’s THE POINT. Yes, Biden is saving $ but what about the taxpayers? If Biden had bought a home in the DC area its cost would be borne by HIM (Congress doesn’t pay for the homes of Senators and Representatives).
But the question remains: does Joe pay the $13K per year or does the government?
I’ll pay his train tickets if it keeps him out of Washington 12 hours of every day.
