In order to legitimize your stealing from me. Over at Blogher, quite a spirited discussion about universal healthcare and other entitlement programs. Of course those most likely to banish God completely from the public square use their misunderstanding of the Bible to call me a hypocrite because I dont see a Constitutional mandate for socialism. After I pointed out that being a conservative Christian is not an oxymoron, I received this reply (following verse after verse of Scripture admonishing me to give up everything I own, blah, blah, blah):
"Christ was a radical who was working against corrupt government, selfishness and the hypocritical Pharisees. Pharisees who claimed to be the most righteous but who were misinterpreting the Old Testament in order to fulfill their self-interest."

“Social Gospel” - Another Gospel that Paul warned about.
Romans 1 pretty much disarms all liberals. They have this foggy view of the bible. They use certain scriptures to defend their sin, hatred of God, and the spreading of false teachings Another is Proverbs 6. The following is self explanatory
Proverbs 6:16-19 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
16 There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.
“18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil.”
Uh, abortion fits really well here. Mmmm....obama has done that in the past.
Paul says in Phillipians 4: 11,12:
“11Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”
Jesus didn’t say possessions were evil — only pointed out that you can’t serve money (”mammon”) and God both.
Paul told Timothy NOT that money is the root of evil, but that the LOVE of money is the root of evil. (I Tim. 6:10)
Money, possessions, wealth are only tools. Like every other tool they can be used for God’s glory, or misused for Satan’s benefit.
I like your blog, by the way. Lots of good thoughtful stuff there.
Isaiah 5-20 Woe to those that call evil good and good evil. We have 50 million dead American children, where are the tears and outcry? Our leaders show no mercy and support this evil with passion.
Lefties will twist the word of God to appease their own evil liberal agendas. Throughout the years, I have heard almost every cockamamie argument they could think of.
The most general, absurd one was “the summary of the Bible is that we have to be good to each other, and good to each other means we have be good to gays and misunderstood people like Hugo Chavez and Osama bin laden.”
That’s a nice spin on gays (Leviticus 20:13 that they ignore), and being good to each other’ (shaking head) when it preaches the way to salvation is through Jesus Christ. Nahh’ they say, that’s too hard and I’m marrying my partner.’
“hands that shed innocent blood”
I think it fits
“And the Devil can quote Scipture to his purpose...”
Even more, amen.
