Rasmussen: “McCain Gets Bounce During Obama Convention”
The Patriot Room ^ | August 26, 2008 | Bill Dupray

Posted on 08/26/2008 8:06:19 AM PDT by Bill Dupray

It looks like Obama may be the incredible shrinking Messiah.

The Democratic National Convention has begun and the poll numbers are bouncing, but not in the direction that most people anticipated.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Barack Obama attracting 44% of the vote while John McCain also earns 44%. When "leaners" are included, it’s still tied with Obama at 46% and McCain at 46%. Yesterday, with leaners, Obama had a three-point advantage over McCain (see recent daily results). [snip]

Obama is supported by 78% of Democrats while McCain gets the vote from 85% of Republicans. The GOP hopeful also has a slight advantage among unaffiliated voters.

Rasmussen also thinks the selection of Biden and the non-selection of Clinton may be hurting Obama. This translates to a negative bounce from the VP selection, a rare occurrence.

pinch me. this seems to good to be true.

Goes back to Bill Clinton’s candidacy as a moderate Dem. The far left simply does not jive with mainstream Americans.

That's going to leave a mark.

Let's hope this carries downticket and we take back the House and Senate. I may disagree with McCain on a number of issues, but spending ain't one of them. With tax cuts and prudent fiscal restraints, the GOP may snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Put Palin on the undercard to make drilling the center issue and hold off Hillary's claim in 2012 that's she's the most experienced female candidate and we're looking a lot better than we did a few months ago.

I hope this is true in the end but its silly to try to draw any conclusions yet. The convention started yesterday and none of the major speakers have gone yet. Obama Mama didn’t speak until ten or so so I also doubt there is anyway this poll could possibly include people’s reaction to the first night of the convention.

Much as I’d like for this to be true the DNC convention just started. Polls typically lag events by a couple of days. Snap polls tend to have a very big Margin.

We’ll know by the weekend. I can wait.

All I saw at the Dem Convention was more “hope” and “strive to be the America we should be.” What a load of BS.

Pomographic Liberalism and the Parsing of Nothing

“...Since leftism is the political expression of nihilism, it is appropriate that the vacuous campaign between Obama and Clinton involves ever finer degrees of nullity on the dark road from nowhere to nothing. Example-American Digest:”The Pitch” http://americandigest.org/mt-archives/picturethis/the_pitch.php

What is the ultimate basis of the “culture war,” and by extension, the conflict between conservative classical liberals and illiberal leftists? What is it’s deep structure, the “either/or” at its foundation that is the cause of all the diametrically opposed attitudes on the surface?

The culture war is in fact a “war between the states,” the existential states of nihilism vs. theism. ...”

are we sure it isnt the Daddy Yankee endorsement? I cant believe no one has posted it on free republic yet. I guess they are too busy posting duplicate stories. PawPaw Mcsame is so far out of touch He thinks he needs to boost his hispanic voters! He needs to work on winning conservatives over, all he has going for him is obama fear.

I hope Kanye West and the other rappers invited to perform at the convention are televised. ....preferably in prime time. Spike Lee too. Come on Donkeys, don’t be shy. Show us what you’re made of.

(And then watch McCain’s #s climb even higher).

i am sure the democrats have figured it into the fraud amount.

Demcrats calculated, so the rumor goes, 1-4% vote padding.

Now I would not be surprised if the pad upto 20%.

I truely believe if John McCain places a woman on his ticket he will win in the largest landslide in history.

The democrats are rotten to the core!

Don't know about "in history," but agree that it'll lead to a landslide. Go, Governor Palin, Go!
