The Kuwait Times reported on Thursday that two more US aircraft carriers are headed for the Persian Gulf. The paper did not say which two carriers they are and the US Navy refused to confirm or deny the report. The two carriers in question are believed to be USS Theodore Roosevelt and the USS Ronald Reagan (pictured). Both are currently at sea (see links above). But there's much more to this report. Meanwhile, the Arabic news agency Moheet reported at the end of July that an unnamed American destroyer, accompanied by two Israeli naval vessels traveled through the Suez Canal from the Mediterranean. A week earlier, a U.S. nuclear submarine accompanied by a destroyer and a supply ship moved into the Mediterranean, according to Moheet. Currently there are two U.S. naval battle groups operating in the Gulf: one is an aircraft carrier group, led by the USS Abraham Lincoln, which carries some 65 fighter aircraft. The other group is headed by the USS Peleliu which maintains a variety of planes and strike helicopters.Hmm. Read the whole thing.
The ship movements coincide with the latest downturn in relations between Washington and Tehran.
...
Kuwait, like other Arab countries in the Gulf, fears it will be caught in the middle should the U.S. decide to launch an air strike against Iran if negotiations fail. The Kuwaitis are finalizing details of their security, humanitarian and vital services, the newspaper reported.

Keep ‘em guessing.
Nah. Keep ‘em ducking from all the incoming.
Los Angeles Class Fast Attack subs accompany the Carriers. The Ohio Class Boomers just have to be in range.
Officer of the Deck, go to Launch depth and hover.
The USS Peleliu is NOT a Nimitz class carrier, it’s amphib assualt ship that carries choppers and assualt landing craft with the attendent Marine Corps landing force.
The gulf is rather shallow...this is one application where a diesel boat would be better...that’s what the Iranians have and that will likely be the greatest threat to the carriers.
There probably for support only. In the past when something big happened the skys overhead at night would light up with up with very low flying jets on what looks like attack runs. No sonic booms but they would really be hauling the mail.
Its been real quite of late.
FYI: two SSN’s accompany each carrier battle group. Sometimes there are more than two. An Ohio-class SSGN may also be present, with its 300 subsurface-launched cruise missiles.
Israeli boats are diesels...and probably right off Iranian waters tracking everything that comes in and out.
There is something to be said for a land where every citizen is constantly aware that real, phsycial Evil exists, and that their lives are in constant danger. Over here, we had 911 and after a year, half our populace (the Democratic half) grabbed the Cheezedoodles and rolled over and went back to sleep. I am amazed we have been able to retaliate as much as we have. Over in Israel...those guys are ready to kick arse and take names. You can bet they know exactly where everything is in Iran.
"Mr. Dinnerjacket, you know we in Americorp have always been willing to listen to reason. But, I don't know, my little partner here, well, he's just plain nuts. Could go off at any time. I'd try to control him, but, well, you know how things are..."
Yep. Sounds like just the normal switch.
Subs! Nukes! LOCUST!!!!!!!!!
Oye
Aircraft carriers USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Ronald Reagan. . .
I guess that means we are going to speak softly and carry a big stick, while we trust, but verify.
How hard is it to hide the aircraft carriers from view?
....we used to call it the PIGeliu.
Click on pic for past Navair pings.
Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation.
This is a medium to low volume pinglist.
I am thankful every day for those that did not grab the Cheezedoodles and go back to sleep. We have only been able to retaliate as much as we have due to the many fine young men and women in uniform and those that support them. The Cheezedoodlers should be their biggest supporters since our military are the reason they can roll over and go back to sleep- but of course they are not that smart.
Not so difficult. Launching aircraft with the flight deck under water is a pretty tough proposition, however.
I saw this somewhere yesterday: “What Would Churchill Do?”
It’s big, flat and gray, what more do you want?
No one will ever know for sure.
Boo hahahahahahahahaaaaaa!
